Flex Data Services server

I am a recent adopter of flex and I have been working on a
simple application that uses flex as the user interface.

I wanted to know, Is it possible to use the flex-data
services within a stand-alone java application that does not
include a web-server?



If so, is there an example someone can point me to?



I have looked extensively through the documentation and
examples and have not found anything.

You need a J2EE server to run FDS.
