Steve Werner Jan 6, 2009 5:20 AM (in response to Shlomit Heymann)I think you're looking for information about the Position tool:

sandeecohen Jan 6, 2009 6:28 AM (in response to Shlomit Heymann)The Position Tuner is a special feature in ID ME that is not in the core program.
I don't know why it isn't in the Help.
But it's not Adobe's fault.
They didn't make the feature. -

Harbs. Jan 6, 2009 11:08 AM (in response to Shlomit Heymann)Hi Shlomit,
I'm afraid that I'm in the same boat as you. As you know, my expertise
(like yours) is more with Hebrew than with Arabic. FWIW, the "Position
Tuner" is not part of the core program. Rather it's part of Tasmeem
which is included as a trial with ID CS4ME.
http://www.winsoft-international.com/en/products/tasmeem/position-tuner.html
This would explain why it's not in the help files...
For the uninitiated: Tasmeem is Winsoft's shaping tool for Arabic
calligraphy. I'm pretty sure that the Position Tuner only works with
Naskh fonts, but I have not yet installed CS4ME or Tasmeem. I've been
using CS4 with World Tools (http://www.in-tools.com/plugin.php?p=8).
When I do install the ME version (which I will probably have to do at
one point -- since I sell it...) I'll probably play with Tasmeem's
features to get a feel for it. In the meantime, we'll need to wait for
someone who knows the intricacies of Arabic calligraphy...

Harbs. Jan 6, 2009 11:37 AM (in response to Shlomit Heymann)Hi Shlomit,
Do you know enough Arabic to actually use it?
Either way, since it's not actually part of InDesign, we're all okay now! ;)

mai81 Jul 28, 2009 6:52 AM (in response to Shlomit Heymann)Hello All
First about "position tuner tool"
it is new tool for ME version and it is used with the new menu "Tasmeem"
Second it is usages
it allows users to move blocks of text, diacritics and even individual dots while preserving textual integrity and the Unicode data structure. Moreover, one can colour diacritics individually for book covers and illustrations. so you have control all over the words and dotes position
Third i wonder why it is not exist on the ID Help even though it has a great role with who works on Arabic Text
hope it wouldn't be a late answer and fulfil your knowledge needs
Thank you;
Mai Ali
