    InDesign Package update

After you made a package of your InDesign Document, often there are changes made in the links or fonts (added or deleted). It is possible to make a new package and delete the old package (which often just not happens). This will give a lot of trouble after filing the document. And you need the document for an update in the future and not all needed elements are in the package.

It would be much more effective if it is possible to update the existing package. And/ore do a package check if all elements are up-2-date.

Since the links are contained in the package, they are, by definition, up-to-date, at least for the document that also exists in the package.

I'm not sure how I feel about updating packaged files as you suggest. One reason for making a package is to capture a "moment in time" as an archive, and you wouldn't want to alter that. If you are often altering files that you've packaged, I wonder why you've packaged them at all.

You might find the "Copy links to..." command useful for keeping everything coordinated.

As a freelance desktop publisher i work on different locations (@the office and @home).

The designer makes the first InDesign document and makes a package with LR/unedited images and allways objects with text content instead of unassigned. Due to that unwanted fonts are also included in the package.

After the package is made, I work on the document (@ a different location), there are changes made in fonts and links (HR/edited images with a different name) and would like to update the packagelinks and -fonts. The InDesign document is already updated by saving.

During the project i work on different locations. So i need to take the package with me.

After my work is done an up-2-date package and PDF 'as an archive' are send or brought back to the designer.

Hope you understand this situation. And the wish for updating the links and fonts in the package.

I'm afraid I don't. If you are continuing to work on the same package, why is it not always up to date, regardless of where you are? You need only copy it into the work location, or if you are transporting on writable media you can work directly on that (though this is not a recommended technique and leaves you without any backup if the media fails).
