0. Re: Right Indent Tab
BranderChatfield Aug 11, 2008 8:23 AM (in response to BranderChatfield)For example:
Bent, Arthur Cleveland[Right Indent Tab]
28, 33, 37, 52, 71, 73, 77, 82, 96, 101, 105, 106, 107, 110, 130, 147, 152, 154
In a narrow column such as this:
Bent,
Arthur Cleveland[Right Indent Tab]
28, 33, 37, 52, 71,
73, 77, 82, 96, 101,
105, 106, 107, 110,
130, 147, 152, 154
only "28, 33, 37, 52, 71," right-aligns and the rest are left-justified.
Anything quick and simple?

(Dave_Saunders) Aug 11, 2008 9:31 AM (in response to BranderChatfield)Instead of using a right indent tab, use a regular tab, but setup the paragraph to be right-aligned.

3. Re: Right Indent Tab
BranderChatfield Aug 11, 2008 9:37 AM (in response to BranderChatfield)Yes, yet I need the first line of alpha-text to be left aligned, and the page numbers to be right-aligned.

MT.Freelance Aug 11, 2008 9:41 AM (in response to BranderChatfield)From your response, you've not tried Dave's suggestion. Give it a shot. It works.
5. Re: Right Indent Tab
BranderChatfield Aug 11, 2008 10:26 AM (in response to BranderChatfield)I have tried the recommendation, and the first line of alpha-text is right-aligned, not left-aligned as needed.

(Dave_Saunders) Aug 11, 2008 11:21 AM (in response to BranderChatfield)Then you didn't do it right. Either that, or you need to trash your preferences.

The previous paragraphs are left-aligned with a right-indent tab before the page numbers. The "Bent" paragraph is right-aligned with a regular tab before the page numbers...

(Dave_Saunders) Aug 11, 2008 12:26 PM (in response to BranderChatfield)Ah, well that doesn't match the sample you gave in the message. If the tab is forced to the next line then you're out of luck.

9. Re: Right Indent Tab
MT.Freelance Aug 11, 2008 12:52 PM (in response to BranderChatfield)Option 1:
To force it to work, break the long name up with a Tab + Forced Line Break (Shift+Return) after the comma.
Option 2:
select all the text, with your existing tabs in place, and change to a table. Set all strokes to 0 point or none, right align the number column, left align the name column, set vertical cell alignment to top.
Option 3:
? anyone else have a suggestion?

Yep, that was my guess. Thanks for the suggestions!

tobias.wantzen Aug 11, 2008 6:35 PM (in response to BranderChatfield)Daves suggestions work, but you have to change a bit:
Set the paragraph to be right-aligned und then use a right indent tab!
Personally I'd use an en space (or another white space) followed by the right indent tab between the topic and the page number. This garanties a bit of a distance between page numbers and topic.
