1. Re: FYI - customers with new Office takes over proof PDFs from Indesign & more
BobLevine Oct 15, 2008 2:27 PM (in response to KarenSC)Something very wonky there. I'm using Office 97 and I can assure you
it's never been a problem.

2. Re: FYI - customers with new Office takes over proof PDFs from Indesign & more
KarenSC Oct 15, 2008 2:30 PM (in response to KarenSC)No - it only happens with the new Office 2007 as it opens PDFs in it's own reader. Anything prior is ok. -

4. Re: FYI - customers with new Office takes over proof PDFs from Indesign & more
KarenSC Oct 15, 2008 2:36 PM (in response to KarenSC)I just found this at Microsoft - my client and many others install this as they make PDFs from Word and everything defaults to opening in Word 2007. With 2007 converting PDFs to RGB mode and not recognising transparency is a problem so I now have to advise my customers who use it. And to install Adobe Reader instead. But many people won't want to bother installing something else ie Adobe Reader.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The 2007 Microsoft Office system already provides support for 20 different document formats within Microsoft Office Word, Office Excel and Office PowerPoint. With the release of Microsoft Office 2007 Service Pack 2 (SP2) scheduled for the first half of 2009, the list will grow to include support for XML Paper Specification (XPS), Portable Document Format (PDF) 1.5, PDF/A and Open Document Format (ODF) v1.1.
When using SP2, customers will be able to open, edit and save documents using ODF and save documents into the XPS and PDF fixed formats from directly within the application without having to install any other code. It will also allow customers to set ODF as the default file format for Office 2007.

KarenSC Oct 15, 2008 2:38 PM (in response to KarenSC)Yes, Bob is a great support on these forums. :) Typos are easy to do. Me too. I'm just sharing my experience with my client as I believe others will run into a similar problem in the near future. Cheers. -

BobLevine Oct 15, 2008 2:39 PM (in response to P Spier)I'll have to back further than 97 to do that. :(
