LCDS 2.6 PDF Generation features

Hello all,

We've been successfully running the LCDS samples for PDF document generation, including the XDP->PDF version.

However we ran into trouble when opening the generated files with 'exotic' PDF readers, including third party alternatives and even an unix version of Acrobat Reader 7.05 (when the same release is ok on win32 platforms).

Every time we opened a PDF document generated from XDP (either the sample or another one created in designer), we got the following message on a blank document page :

Warning: This form is not supported at all with the current version of Acrobat or Adobe Reader.

Upgrade to the latest version for full support.

When trying the non-XDP generation, we got other error messages (PDF version unsupported), and some elements were not displayed correctly.

Are there some limitations on the PDF generation features of LCDS ? Do we need to acquire other LC products to leverage the document generation capacities ? Actually we don't need user interactive forms, only creating PDF documents based on a template with few variable fields.

Thanks for your help.

Best regards,

Hello,

We had the same problem with PDF documents generated by LCDS 2.5.1 that could only be read with Adobe Reader 8.0.2 or later

The SOLUTION to this problem is to open the PDF or XDP form in LiveCycle Designer, then go to File > Form Properties. Select the Defaults tab. In the Target Version section, selecte Choose to run form in: Acrobat and Adobe Reader 7.0.5 or later.
