(Sid_EOS) Feb 18, 2007 5:48 AM (in response to KateMann)I think you need something like this:<br /><br />Clearing out the previous installation of Lightroom.<br />?WINDOWS?Once you have used remove programs try rebooting and also cleaning out the ?C:\Program Files\Adobe\Lightroom directory as well as the hidden directory under ?C:\users\<your name>\Application Date\Adobe\Lightroom ??But note that I am not a windows tester, anyone else want to comment? -
2. Re: 1!
KateMann Feb 18, 2007 5:52 AM (in response to KateMann)Thanks Sid!
It's going to a long day. After the cleanup I plan to practice piano until the file shows up. I'm an RSP person so I'll be using the evaluation copy until they mail the serial number information.
Bach Prelude in C major for the rest of the morning. -

They come from my website FAQ, under development :0 -
4. Re: 1!
KateMann Feb 18, 2007 6:03 AM (in response to KateMann)When I see those sorts of things I just understand that you are hampered by a Mac.
Just kidding! *ouch* *sorry*
I have a pretty fast Windoze machine but when I'm ready for the next iteration, and given that Adobe is going to offer cross platform licensing for PShop, I will get a Mac-Intel. At least that's the plan.
The only software that I can't dump and can't afford to buy again in PSCS and soon, Lightroom.
oh yes, the piano ... -
5. Re: 1!
(Sid_EOS) Feb 18, 2007 6:05 AM (in response to KateMann)Adobe will allow you to change the license on PSCS for a small fee.

MethodPhoto Feb 18, 2007 6:06 AM (in response to KateMann)The upgrade from the beta should be pretty seamless, just ensure all your photo binders (if you had any) are unbound. -
7. Re: 1!
KateMann Feb 18, 2007 6:08 AM (in response to KateMann)I can't afford it yet Sid. I just bought the Spyder Pro calibration deal and a Canon Pro9000. I'm still paying for the Canon 17-45L. In a year maybe. -

jpprice54 Feb 18, 2007 6:10 AM (in response to KateMann)Oh my. We are all a little anxious, aren't we? I'm right beside all of you. Would love to spend the day exploring and getting used to v.1.
I'm also anxious for the college bookstore to have the ed version but will use the trial until that arrives.
There is now a link to the d'load page but it isn't "up" yet - http://www.adobe.com/go/trylightroom_ap.
<<sound of foot tapping>>
I really need to get a life, eh?

KateMann Feb 18, 2007 6:17 AM (in response to KateMann)We are all in the same boat John. It's a bit nuts really. The link goes to a page not found for me.
We will have to wait for those Californians to have their lattes and croissants I suppose....
It's only 6:15 am in Seattle. Let's see, they're jogging. Eating yoghurt. Being ridiculously healthy left coasters.
While we wait and whine. -
10. Re: 1!
jpprice54 Feb 18, 2007 6:24 AM (in response to KateMann)Ahhh, but you have Johann!
I have to settle for trying to keep up with my dear Sarah Mclachlan's guitar progressions. Come to think of it, that's a fine idea.
It's 9:25 in Toronto and I'm a brisk 10 minute walk from Tim Horton's - dare I brave it? -
11. Re: 1!
(Willem_van_Spijk) Feb 18, 2007 6:41 AM (in response to KateMann)Coming back what Katherine initially said: "Let's discuss whether to install on a clean machine". For the ones who want to do this, I have so far not found any solid procedure to delete LR beta 4.1. Anyone who can decribe the procedure to uninstall ALL of 4.1. Thanks ! -
12. Re: 1!
KateMann Feb 18, 2007 6:48 AM (in response to KateMann)John - it depends, I would say, on how much snow fell last night. It's minus gross quantities of digits Celsius and sunny in Owen Sound. (Look up, look way up)(Unless you're 45-60 you won't get the reference). It's been snowing for three weeks here.
I think I'll dash to the kitchen. Sarah is great. -
13. Re: 1!
jpprice54 Feb 18, 2007 7:12 AM (in response to KateMann)Mmm-hmm...Bob Homme, The Friendly Giant - and his side-kick Jerome. Oh yes, sistah, I'm in that age 'hood. My best friend lives in Owen the Sound! -
14. Re: 1!
Wolf Eilers Feb 18, 2007 7:16 AM (in response to KateMann)And Katherine, not only do you have to be in an age group to understand the "look up, look way up" but it would help if you are Canadian. Friendly Giant, right?
I'm off to grab a latte and croissant on the rainy Vancouver west coast having now just completed my online purchase of Lr. -
15. Re: 1!
KateMann Feb 18, 2007 7:28 AM (in response to KateMann)Good to see fellow Canadians in the group!
yes, Friendly. Londonderry Air on the recorder. It was such a totally nice program for kids. No nasty little smartasses to emulate.
Wolf, did you, umm, by any chance, download, your new copy? -

(Paul_Lalonde) Feb 18, 2007 7:33 AM (in response to KateMann)re friendly giant
why isn't anyone including the "and I'll call Rusty" at the end of "look up, way up"
North Bay kid -
18. Re: 1!
Wolf Eilers Feb 18, 2007 7:39 AM (in response to KateMann)The download is not active yet. It appears that Adobe will be firm on the Feb 19 date (in North America, give or take a few hours for west coast, east coast time differences). -
19. Re: 1!
jpprice54 Feb 18, 2007 7:42 AM (in response to KateMann)Cool, Paul. My bro lived in North Bay. Perhaps this Forum has TOO MUCH Canadian content (as if there's such a thing, eh?). At least this thread has more than its fair share!

(DW_Harrison) Feb 18, 2007 7:43 AM (in response to KateMann)Now if we could just figure out a way to bring Mr. Dressup into this conversation... -
21. Re: 1!
KateMann Feb 18, 2007 7:45 AM (in response to KateMann)There can neither be too many women nor Canadians. It's axiomatic.
Anyway - I am looking forward to anticipating for one more day, the wonderful, legendary, Lightroom 1.0.
Thanks again Sid, for the FAQ and all the rest of your site. I think it's going to be a hit and you are going to be scrambling for bandwidth. -

Lee Jay-7OQGJF Feb 18, 2007 7:48 AM (in response to KateMann)Sid,
The RSP wording in the FAQ is all messed up.

23. Re: 1!
(Paul_Lalonde) Feb 18, 2007 7:51 AM (in response to KateMann)on Mr. Dressup, I always thought Casey was over rated as an actor. Finnegan was much better, but never got the credit he deserved.
On the late delivery, I don't understand why the email would say "ready for download" if it's not available until Monday. After all, not everyone who orders is reading this forum and many won't even know there's a reason for the download to be failing. -
24. Re: 1!
(John_Verne) Feb 18, 2007 8:19 AM (in response to KateMann)Well, I may as well 'fess up: Reporting from Waterloo; late of Toronto, Vancouver and (initially) Winnipeg.
Well, it's only -10C and sunny sunny sunny. May as well go and get some nice raw shots with the polarizer so I'm ready for demo. I'd buy the thing now, but I'm afraid that the panic on import will make LR unusable for me.
Anyone else using LR on a box with dual G4s?
Until then, keep curled up in the chair by the fire, maybe sitting with a friend in the chair that might fit two... -
25. Re: 1!
KateMann Feb 18, 2007 8:20 AM (in response to KateMann)Paul, I must confess that I am too old to have payed much attention to Mr. Dressup. When my daughter was young in the 80s we didn't have a tv. Mostly I try to ignore television.
On the subject of Lightroom I agree that it is a little odd to state that something is ready for download when it is definitely not the case. I don't know when Adobe is going to release the thing - either today or tomorrow morning. I suspect that the server will be quite busy at 00:00:01 on the 19th. I suppose that they meant the 19th in North America. There are certainly a pile of people on the other side of the Pacific who are waking up in Monday the 19th already. I always find that weird.
Check this out: http://www.turntime.eu/index.htm Turntime is an attempt at international time. It is 244 and 4 minutes now. -
26. Re: 1!
KateMann Feb 18, 2007 8:22 AM (in response to KateMann)What do you call a bunch of Canadians? We seem to have a few around here. Welcome to the whatever we are John.
I hope our 'merican friends got to enjoy Friendly Giant. -
27. Re: 1!
(Sid_EOS) Feb 18, 2007 8:34 AM (in response to KateMann)Lee Jay, what are you using as a browser?
What sort of "messed up"? -
28. Re: 1!
jpprice54 Feb 18, 2007 8:40 AM (in response to KateMann)Thanks for the welcome, Katherine. I've been a lurker for some time - never thinking I had enough of value to say. Hoping to change that (the lurking, that is - the value will have to speak for itself).
Interestingly, TFG got it's start at the U of Wisconsin. CBC invited them up mid-50's and it stayed here.
I think we're an f-stop of Canographers, eh!
...john... -
29. Re: 1!
KateMann Feb 18, 2007 8:50 AM (in response to KateMann)an f-stop of Canographers indeed! Good one. I wonder how Michael Reichmann would like that, speaking of Canadians. I shutter to think. -
30. Re: 1!
(Kevin_Featheringill) Feb 18, 2007 8:52 AM (in response to KateMann)"I shutter to think." Stop it!!!
:) -
31. Re: 1!
jpprice54 Feb 18, 2007 9:08 AM (in response to KateMann)On second thought, it better be an f-stop of Canadiographers so there's no mistaking the intent.
K...let's see: did the dishes, had breakfast, scoured the kitchen sink, fed the cat, built a d'load page refresh macro and scheduled it to run on the minute, cleaned my glasses, tapped my foot a few more times, proofread my daughter's paper, found a Sleeman's lager out in the mud room, drank the beer, went back to macro to see if I could add a sound when it succeeded with a live page, gave my grandson a hug the benefit of my infinite wisdom, showered/shaved...
hehehe...this can't be healthy. -
32. Re: 1!
(Sid_EOS) Feb 18, 2007 9:11 AM (in response to KateMann)You need to get out more - just not today :) -
33. Re: 1!
(Timothy_Hulme) Feb 18, 2007 9:25 AM (in response to KateMann)If there going to be firm on the 19th then they should not be giving us a download link on the 18th and stating that product has shipped. Although maybe it will be the 19th since they are maybe waiting for our credit cards to process?

34. Re: 1!
(Dorian_Nisinson) Feb 18, 2007 9:37 AM (in response to KateMann)I wonder what email you are referring to. I got an email confirming my order placed at the Adobe online store (1/29/07), but nothing since then. Have you all received a "go get it now" email with serial number too?
My order is still showing up as pending at the store, but I'd hate to think I got left off a list or some such.

35. Re: 1!
(Timothy_Hulme) Feb 18, 2007 9:41 AM (in response to KateMann)Just ordered my copy last night (saturday) and my order history is showing "shipped" but download link does not work yet.
As for email, i've gotten nothing from adobe one way or the other.
Tim -
36. Re: 1!
(Dorian_Nisinson) Feb 18, 2007 9:54 AM (in response to KateMann)Well, I hope that I did not get lost in orderland.
I am also hoping that LR shows up today. I have already rearranged my hard drive photo system and tidied up the kitchen, made the bed. The waiting is not getting easier.
So the question is should my next "waiting project" be empty the front hall closet and organize, or sweep the front stairs?

37. Re: 1!
(John_Leadley) Feb 18, 2007 10:01 AM (in response to KateMann)At 12:38 am PST I received an email from Adobe with the title "Your download is now available." It said that "The following products from order XXXXXXX are now available for download," however no luck so far. I ordered it yesterday after noticing the 15% off discount.

38. Re: 1!
KateMann Feb 18, 2007 10:03 AM (in response to KateMann)Okay, the dog is walked, dried. The kitchen is clean, the piano is barely cool from Bach. I probably should continue with the portfolio that is WAITING for Lightroom so that I can put it up in style on the web. I know PSCS3 has an adequate function. I want to use Lightroom. Is there something wrong with that? And the slide show. Pictures at an exhibition as the background music. Nothing like something heavy.
la la. Back to Bach. -
39. Re: 1!
(Timothy_Hulme) Feb 18, 2007 10:12 AM (in response to KateMann)Adobe must be doing a rollout. I've not gotten any email from them yet. A quick check of my credit card online shows the charge to my account.
So I guess we just have to sit here patiently waiting.
Sucks, I cleaned everything out for the new download. So I sit here with nothing to do.
Tim
