2. Re: Flash Gallery very slow to load
Dave Huss-H9t8BH May 3, 2007 10:20 AM (in response to Cindy-)Uploading a Web gallery in 90 seconds is fairly fast compared to the times that I have been seeing.
To upload 180 Nikon D200 Raw files (15.5 MB each)takes about ten minutes to convert them to JPEGs and over an hour to upload the 180 MB file.

Cindy- May 3, 2007 10:39 AM (in response to Cindy-)I am not talking about uploading. I am talking about viewing once it is uploaded. If a new viewer comes to the site it takes about a minute and a half for the gallery to load for viewing. That is too long. People will leave the site. -

5. Re: Flash Gallery very slow to load
UBPhoto May 3, 2007 11:25 AM (in response to Cindy-)The flash gallery is another 'feature' to ignore. Together with the entire HTML module overall.
Just a couple of days ago I needed to produce a Flash gallery of about 170 photos. Decided to use the Lightroom gallery generator.
After about 30 minutes of waiting, I ended up with a gallery that was over 100 Megabytes in size. 100 Megabytes! Yeah right... I'm going to post that to my website!
So I started up JAlbum and in about 3 minutes I had a great Flash gallery that was less than 8 Megabytes in size.
The whole HTML module design in Lightroom needs to be rethought from scratch. -

Cindy- May 3, 2007 11:43 AM (in response to Cindy-)The one I am complaining about is less than 8 meg with 60 photos so I think maybe you are creating these galleries at 100% quality rather than around 60% or even less. -

(Ray_Mabus) Jul 1, 2007 12:14 PM (in response to Cindy-)how do you move images from Lightbox to an external hard drive? I store photos on a laptop when I travel and want to move them to an external hard drive for storage and backup and later reimport them to a desktop for editing. I use Lightroom 1.0 and the files are in Nikon RAW (NEF) format.
