1. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
Lee Jay-7OQGJF May 6, 2007 7:22 PM (in response to Cindy-)You are not understanding correctly.
You have to export the xmp data to the files (manually or automatically) for Bridge to read the corrections.
And you have to have ACR 3.7 on Bridge 1 or ACR 4 on Bridge 2. -
2. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
Cindy- May 6, 2007 7:44 PM (in response to Cindy-)I have ACR 4 on Bridge 2. How do I export these xmp files? -
3. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
Cindy- May 6, 2007 7:53 PM (in response to Cindy-)Found it in the prefs! Thanks! -
4. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
Cindy- May 6, 2007 8:03 PM (in response to Cindy-)....except that it is not actually working. I make changes in LR then open the file in Bridge and the settings are not saved. Ive tried even closing down the programs and re-opening them. It is not saving to the xmp files like it should or Bridge is not reading it like it should. -
5. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
Michael D Sullivan May 6, 2007 8:50 PM (in response to Cindy-)After setting LR to export xmp data (and being sure this has completed), are you also telling Bridge to store its metadata in the directory with the file when possible, and also rebuilding your Bridge cache for the relevant directories? This may take a while. -
6. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
Cindy- May 6, 2007 9:31 PM (in response to Cindy-)Yes, it is set up that way -
7. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
(Jeff_Schewe) May 6, 2007 10:09 PM (in response to Cindy-)What file format? Raw? -
8. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
Cindy- May 7, 2007 6:30 AM (in response to Cindy-)Yes, they are Raw. -
9. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
Cindy- May 7, 2007 6:51 AM (in response to Cindy-)I have gotten LR to write to Bridge.... sometimes but what I do in Bridge is not send back to LR so writing to the xmp files is very inconsistent at best. -

11. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
Tom-Rockwell May 7, 2007 2:03 PM (in response to Cindy-)You may want to pick a directory and export the XMP files for that directory. Then look at that directory in Bridge to see if the changes are there. Maybe LR only writes the XMP files when you make a change to a file? -
12. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
Cindy- May 7, 2007 2:07 PM (in response to Cindy-)> In LR you have to ask to read and wite XMP (or set always for write).
I find no option in the prefs where it is read and write, just write. -

Lee Jay-7OQGJF May 7, 2007 2:13 PM (in response to Cindy-)(Library module) Metadata menu - xmp -
14. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
Cindy- May 7, 2007 2:29 PM (in response to Cindy-)Found it. Does this mean you have to click on it each time you want to export them or import them? -
15. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
Cindy- May 7, 2007 2:35 PM (in response to Cindy-)Ok, this works. Seems it should be a preference file but at least you can do it in batches. Thanks! -
16. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
Lee Jay-7OQGJF May 7, 2007 2:35 PM (in response to Cindy-)Import them, yes. If you have autowrite on in the preferences, they get written automatically. -
17. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
Cindy- May 7, 2007 2:47 PM (in response to Cindy-)> Import them, yes. If you have autowrite on in the preferences, they get written automatically.
Not both ways. I have to click on import in order to get the updates from Bridge and sometimes export doesnt do it automatically either. But clicking on import/export does. -
18. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
Lee Jay-7OQGJF May 7, 2007 2:48 PM (in response to Cindy-)I don't know how bridge works, I don't use it. I was talking about LR. -
19. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
(DonRicklin) May 7, 2007 3:20 PM (in response to Cindy-)LR is one way, or there may be times when you would loose fresh edits in LR to an indavertant XMP read. LR would be fighting itself.
Think about it. The only time LR seems to read XMP auto is on initial import, if the is XMP to read on import.

20. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
Cindy- May 7, 2007 3:56 PM (in response to Cindy-)The fact the import export buttons are there solves my problem. I don't like being locked in... not at this point anyway. I am quite used to Bridge and until I am comfortable I need those options open.
I have been working with LR all weekend. Not long enough to know it well. And I also feel it will mature as time goes on so I am glad I am getting familiar now.
I can see where some tasks can be quite helpful with my workflow but it is pretty slow on my G4. I'm sure I am going to like it better when I get my MacPro in a couple of months. -

22. Re: Bridge does not keep LR settings?
Cindy- May 7, 2007 4:47 PM (in response to Cindy-)Did you get a MacBook Pro?
Oops! Nevermind. I see it in your sig.
I plan on a MacPro 2.66 with 4 gig to start. I have to take care of all the work I have because I tend to obsess over my toys, I mean work tools. -

Oh, you have no idea how fast, fast can be...be sure to get plenty 'O' ram. -
