1. Re: Capture Time not listed in Metadata Panel
(DonRicklin) Jul 3, 2007 10:44 AM (in response to Matthew A Kraus)I believe that is now listed as 'Date Time Original' in Metadata. You can edit Capture Time under Menu/Metadata/Edit Capture Time...

3. Re: Capture Time not listed in Metadata Panel
lalittle Jul 3, 2007 3:01 PM (in response to Matthew A Kraus)Is this the field that shifts by an hour every time you go on or off of Daylight Savings Time, or is this something different?
Also, are you saying that LR refers to the same field with different names in different places -- i.e. does "Edit Capture Time" actually edit "Date Time Original"? If so, why use two different names for the same field?
Thanks,
Larry -
4. Re: Capture Time not listed in Metadata Panel
Casamagnolia-wSzxs8 Jul 4, 2007 7:23 AM (in response to Matthew A Kraus)Personally, I would not use Edit Capture Time in LR until and if I am assured by multiple people that it now works properly on all image types, including those with and without an EXIF section. In 1.0 it did not work properly. I will live with improper display in LR and set my capture times in another application, if need be (like scans), before loading them into LR.
They are still using two names for the "same" thing? Shame on them. It wasn't clear to me that it was the "same" thing though. There were/are too many bugs to figure out what they mean by these words. There are MANY date/time fields in the metadata standards and they are not used consistently by all products.
Elements 5 did it correctly. And had partial dates. But those dates did not load into LR correctly. Dates are screwed up in LR so I don't fiddle with them there.
I really expected this to be fixed. How hard can it be! They did what would appear to be much more difficult things in 1.1, but they left the date/time bugs. Shame on them! -
5. Re: Capture Time not listed in Metadata Panel
(BogdanH) Jul 4, 2007 7:26 AM (in response to Matthew A Kraus)In short... exif contains three DateTime values, where LR shows:
Exif:ModifyDate->LR:Time
Exif:DateTimeOriginal->LR:CaptureTime (can be shown with thumbnails)
Exif:CreateDate->LR:DateTimeDigitized
Now, if you have image taken on (for example) 20th January at 8:00AM (winter time), and you import that image now (summer time), Lightroom will show you as photo were taken at 9:00AM (all three DateTime labels are one hour off).
If importing would be done in wintwr time (same as photo taken), DateTime values would be shown correct.
