Appending a PDF file with CFMX 7

I am stressing out because I don't know if this can be done or not. I am running CFMX7 and need to do the following if possible.

1. Convert an existing file to PDF (doc, jpg, ppts...)
2. Append existing PDF files with other PDF files.

Is this possible withint CFMX7? I know how to create a PDF file from scratch, but not from an existing file.
