    GIF Resize - retain crispness

I've scanned patch into Photoshop and saved it as a GIF file. This image is to eventually be imported into Flash for a website intro header. I need to resize the image to 82px for it to work. I'm doing this in Fireworks and saving it as a PNG file.

The problem I have is when I resize the canvas, the image becomes fuzzy looking. The stands in stark contrast to the Heading text of the website it sits next to. What can I do to retain the crispness of the original scan?

Most patches are made up of areas of solid color. Recreate the image in
Fireworks as a vector version that you can rescale without distortion.
To do so, you can trace the shapes with the Pen tool, or, possibly,
select them with the Magic wand tool and convert the selections to
          paths.
