1. Re: Need help with cropping
Steven L. Gotz Dec 17, 2007 6:19 AM (in response to juskocf)First of all, I like to create a project using a custom desktop setting at the exact size I will export. This is common when I shoot at a long distance and need to zoom way in. Usually wildlife shots.
Second, I would choose a 16:9 where the larger number and the lower number are both evenly divisible by 8. Better yet, by 16. So, in that case, a close number to your desired settings would be 384X216 - this is due to the nature of the encoders. -

juskocf Dec 17, 2007 7:12 AM (in response to juskocf)Hi, Steven, thank you very much indeed for your help. I just followed your steps and made a test zoom in video with complete sucess. I used the position/scale of the motion effect to do that. So, the trick is in creating a low resolution project in the first place. I always thought that a project should match the format and all the settings of the input video.
May I ask which effect is best for making such a low resolution video with zoom in effect please ? As I mentioned earlier, there are "position/scale", "camera view", crop effect etc.
Best Regards

Normally yes. However, when you want to zoom way in from HDV to small frame, the solution I suggested solves many problems. As long as a DVD is not required, otherwise you will be limited to a much smaller zoom, as you have seen.
I use Motion position/scale to do the job. -
