I am making several home videos on standard DVD using images and video
from my Sony digital camera. The video is not great, it's 640 x 480 mpeg4.
Since the images are higher quality I want to save the video for future use
in as high as quality as possible. I thought DV-AVI was the way to go but
when there is motion in the videos, I can see faint scan lines in the DV video. It's not there in the original video and not in the standard DVD video either.
Is there a better way to save the the video for future editing or a way I can eliminate the scan lines from DV?
The best way is always the original way. "Higher quality" formats most often add only bulk to the files, rarely adding any quality to the original. Lower quality formats will, of course, reduce the quality. Even "same quality" formats are likely to introduce some measure of degradation.
