3. Re: Is the Minnetonka ac3 5.1 surcode in Premiere CS4?
2drumstix Oct 28, 2008 7:56 AM (in response to 2drumstix)My adobe call, 56 mins, transfered to 6 different people, twice to India, finally get to a "sales" guy, he was the most sincere and cared about my issue but he's not a tech, then he gets me to a Premiere tech, that dude was an ***! He didnt know anything about the 5.1 surcode and just keep saying call Dolby, well the 5.1 surcode is from Minnetonka and is embeded in Adobes media encoder its not a Dolby issue.
My call to Minnetonka, 5 mins, dude says Adobe didnt have time to get it in the first release, it'll be in the first update. Should have just called them first!
My adobe call, total BS!
My Minnetonka call, priceless! -

5. Re: Is the Minnetonka ac3 5.1 surcode in Premiere CS4?
Bill Hunt Oct 28, 2008 8:59 AM (in response to 2drumstix)2drumstix,
Thanks for the update. I've corresponded with Minnetonka on a few things, and have found them to be very good. They have always replied almost instantly, and have been always correct, and complete in their responses.
It will also be interesting to see if the purchased, licensed versions of the SurCode from, say PP2, will work/install in CS4.
Since their DTS encoder is a stand-alone, there *should* be no issues there. The DD SurCode, *might* have a problem. Here's hoping NOT.

6. Re: Is the Minnetonka ac3 5.1 surcode in Premiere CS4?
2drumstix Oct 29, 2008 11:25 AM (in response to 2drumstix)Hunt,
The Minnetonka rep, I think his name is Steve, assured me that my key code, purchased at PP1.5 in 2006, will indeed work in CS4. And if it doesnt I was also assured that they will take care of it if it doesnt. Luckily, I keep my surcode purchase email receipt!
I agree, I found Minnetonaka to be totally responsive, I doubt you will have any trouble in using your key code even if you have to call them, when "Adobe" finally gets the surcode in CS4 that is, until then its stereo or bust.

Bill Hunt Oct 29, 2008 11:47 AM (in response to 2drumstix)Thanks for reporting back. Yes, I have corresponded with Steve on other questions/issues. Glad to hear that SurCode plug-in will work, when the time's right.
Appreciated,

8. Re: Is the Minnetonka ac3 5.1 surcode in Premiere CS4?
(akhullar) Nov 25, 2008 1:09 AM (in response to 2drumstix)Hey,
The Premiere pro and AME 4.0.1 updates are out and they indeed add surcode for dolby digital (5.1 audio) support to Premiere pro and AME,but in order for surcode to work one needs to update Premiere Pro as well AS AME to 4.0.1. -
9. Re: Is the Minnetonka ac3 5.1 surcode in Premiere CS4?
DVDmike Nov 25, 2008 7:07 PM (in response to 2drumstix)I was going to try and test to see if CS4 allowed me to use my previously purchased DD encoder. But I cannot figure out how to export it so that AC-3 shows up as an option? Has anyone had success with this? If so, can you give me the basic steps in CS4 please?
As far as Minnetonaka goes, I have found them to be quite responsive in the past as well. They are small enough where they are willing to work with their customers and just do not blow them off. -
10. Re: Is the Minnetonka ac3 5.1 surcode in Premiere CS4?
(akhullar) Nov 26, 2008 4:18 AM (in response to 2drumstix)Mike,
The DD 5.1 is available only after one updates premiere pro and AME to 4.0.1,the updates are now available. -
11. Re: Is the Minnetonka ac3 5.1 surcode in Premiere CS4?
DVDmike Nov 26, 2008 5:51 AM (in response to 2drumstix)I have the 4.01 updates. But when I start AME, I do not see any DD option anwywhere. -
12. Re: Is the Minnetonka ac3 5.1 surcode in Premiere CS4?
Aurobi Nov 26, 2008 6:46 AM (in response to 2drumstix)Hi Mike,
I assume you are using serialized Premiere Pro;otherwise this option is not available. When AME is launched, it is available under MPEG2-DVD or MPEG2 Blu-ray or H.264 Blu-ray formats. Once one of these formats are selected, you can either choose the Surcode preset or click the audio tab and choose the Dolby Digital format option from there.
Thanks

13. Re: Is the Minnetonka ac3 5.1 surcode in Premiere CS4?
DVDmike Nov 26, 2008 1:14 PM (in response to 2drumstix)Thanks Aurobinda. I was not going into either one of those video options as I was testing an audio conversion only. But I went under mpeg-2 DVD and I could select and encode a DD 5.1 sequence. Since it did not indicate that there was a trial period, I am assuming that it read my prior purchase for surcode and that I am all set up.
Thanks again!
