This is an issue with your Mac not Reader. Its database that keeps track
of these things is either corrupt or has incorrect permissions set. Try
to fix permissions and see if this helps.
Thanks a million that fixed it. Man I had loads of permissions to fix but that must have been one as it now works fine. If I could impose on your knowledge one more time. I have been talking to Dave Taylor at Gamerzines magazine. It's a series of Gaming magazines using Reader and displaying Flash content such as Game videos etc. I'm using V9 and Flash 10 but all that happens when I click on a link on the magazine it just says buffering and nothing happens. Any ideas? I've set Multimedia Legacy to Flash and Trust has Flash as Always Allow. Plus the correct link is in the Trust Manager.
This is an issue with the old way of handling flash movies. It broke in
some version of Acrobat/Reader with an OS update. The old method of
embedding flash movies into a pdf, just doesn't work on a Mac. If the
swf is manually placed in the pdf, then they will work on a Mac. Adobe's
new way of handling swf files is much more reliable on Mac and Windows.
Alas, there is nothing you can do to get these swf files to play on a
Mac, without installing Windows :-(
Mac OS 10.4.11: I could not open pdf docs today (12-24-08), uninstalled & installed Adobe Reader 9.0.0. pdf docs icons changed but open, however cannot open Reader from Applications and get: Adobe Reader
Then immediately get this error message:
Adobe Reader could not install correctly.
Adobe Reader was unable to install a necessary component
and must quit.
Any help out there for me?
