Open the file in a text processor. What are the first few characters in
I have no idea what a text processor is. Can you provide instruction as to how I can do this?
He means that you need to open it in Something like Word or Notepad. Once opened in one of those applications, you'll see the code for the file.
We need to first line of code from that file.
All I'm getting is a blank screen, both in Word and in Notepad.
That's not a good sign. If you right click on the file and choose Properties, what does it say for file size?
I'm guessing that the emailed files would be corrupt. Emailing PDF's is not recommended unless they are Zipped first. But that doesn't explain why it's happening with the file that you got off a web site.
Do you have a link to a file on a web site that you can't open?
Emailed file shows as:
Size: 0 bytes
Size on disk: 4.00 KB (4096 bytes)
Saved file from website shows as:
Size: 0 bytes
Size on disk: 0 bytes
I just downloaded it from the website again, and got the same result.
Not sure what the issue is but it's happening before you ever get to Reader.
So can you provide a link to the file you got from the web? That would be the only chance we have of getting to the bottom of this (and it's a slim chance at that).

Can it be that your hard drive is full?
That could be it.
I can download the file fine and it comes through at around 1.3MB.
So it's something in the download.
