We have a similar problem when using a Canon printer.
Best solution seem to be to prepare the disc image in Photoshop & save as the highest quality JPEG you can, and load this into the printer software application. -

Bill Hunt Oct 18, 2008 2:32 PM (in response to (Joe_q_smith))Joe,
I'm with Neil on this one. I do wish that the Epson software would allow Import of TIFF and PSD images, but my (older) version will not - JPG only. Now, I do have a new R-1900, but have not hooked it up, or installed the SW yet. The Epson SW might have gotten better.
For my workflow, I do all image work in PS, then Save_As for Import into Epson.

Christian Jolly Oct 19, 2008 11:59 AM (in response to (Joe_q_smith))I am able to bring TIFF into the Epson Print CD software (Epson R220, software revision from sometime in 2006). Your version may be older still. -

Help file says you can use tif, but only if no lzw compression. It does not list psd. A psd gives a "could not load image message." The tifs give a message that is a bunch of question marks.
I tried a test, and could not import a tif. I was pretty sure the tif samples I had were uncompressed. but I checked, and discovered that one imported fine.
I created a tif with and without compression. The one with compression gives the "could not load image" message; the one without imported fine. Hmmm. I realized that the tifs I was using were PPro CS3 exports.
So my hypothesis is now that PPro exported tifs do not import; PS created tifs (uncompressed) do. -

Neil Wilkes Oct 20, 2008 12:24 AM (in response to (Joe_q_smith))Maybe unrelated - but....
I have found that with Sonic's DVD-Audio Creator software, a colour managed TIFF will import - but not compile.
As an aside, there should be no real impediment (although I can understand why you would want to use a proper TIFF) to using a JPEG file at maximum quality - although this is the visual equivalent of an MP3, the quality loss is unlikely to be noticeable on a disc print... -

Bill Hunt Oct 30, 2008 6:08 PM (in response to (Joe_q_smith))My statement was based solely on an earlier version of Epson's SW.
I have an R-1900, that will be installed when I return to PHX. I'll look at it's SW and see what formats the newer version supports.
To date, I just Save_As JPG (highest quality) from my PSD's and all is fine. Maybe the newer versions have greater latitude regarding formats.
