1. Re: Out of Sync, try to solve this one!!!
Joe Bowden Apr 6, 2008 8:41 AM (in response to gold987987987)Burned DVDs are not the same as replicated DVDs such as commercial titles. My guess would be the high-end Sony either doesn't like the media or the bit rate on the video - maybe both.
Have you tried another brand of recordable DVD? Or perhaps lowered the bit rate of the video when it is transcoded? -

gold987987987 Apr 6, 2008 9:07 AM (in response to gold987987987)I only use high end Verbatim discs. I've tried DVD+R DL and different bit rates from 6VBR to 7CBR.
I've even tried playing things that I burned on DVD+R DL with Encore 2.0 and they play perfect.
Pretty strange eh? -
3. Re: Out of Sync, try to solve this one!!!
Joe Bowden Apr 6, 2008 9:22 AM (in response to gold987987987)Yes, strange.
This is a problem with DVD+R DL? Or DVD+R in general? Have you tried DVD-R? Or tried a different brand of DVD+R? Also, 6 & 7 MBps isn't a wide range of transcoding bit rates. How does 3 MBps work on this player using the same media? Try lower values and see if one "clicks".
Recordable DVD compatibility is inexact, at best. You may have to juggle some of the many variables to find the best compatibility. Even then, there may be other players that won't play it.
Best compatibility is replicated DVD, which all players are designed to play. Recordable DVD, as you have found, is a bit more of gamble. -

gold987987987 Apr 6, 2008 10:20 AM (in response to gold987987987)What is really interesting is that while testing I burned this project with Encore CS3 to DVD+R DL and the audio is out of sync on this DVD player.
While another project that I burned with Encore 2.0 on the same exact DVD+R DL media does not have sync problems.
The only variable is CS3. -

No, that's not the only variable.
Are you trying to solve the problem, or file a bug report? If the latter, Adobe has a form for that on their website. -
6. Re: Out of Sync, try to solve this one!!!
gold987987987 Apr 6, 2008 2:36 PM (in response to gold987987987)The only thing different is that the properly sync'd DVD+R DL has pretty footage of Florida on it and it was encoded with Encore 2.0.
The out of sync version is a corporate video that was encoded with Encore CS3.
Everything else is identical. -
7. Re: Out of Sync, try to solve this one!!!
Joe Bowden Apr 6, 2008 3:29 PM (in response to gold987987987)If you think there's a burn error, try building an image in Encore CS3, and then burn the image from Encore 2.0.
What's strange is that all your other players don't display the problem, but this Sony player does. That's why I said that Encore CS3 is not the only variable involved. -

akribie Apr 6, 2008 11:59 PM (in response to gold987987987)Every now and again I get out of sync issues when playing commercial pressed DVDs in my TV-linked DVD player. Especially if I pause and restart. So maybe it isn't an Adobe or media issue at all, but a problem with the player? -
9. Re: Out of Sync, try to solve this one!!!
Neil Wilkes Apr 7, 2008 11:48 AM (in response to gold987987987)If it were an Adobe issue, then the disc would be out of sync on all players, not just the Sony.
What is the difference between this disc & others you have burned?
Does the player play other written discs okay?
I am wondering if the player may need a firmware update?
