1. Re: PPro to Encore to FLV workflow...does it degrade quality recompressing already compressed video?
Joe Bowden Oct 29, 2007 11:12 AM (in response to skeeze)Encore doesn't accept importing an FLV as asset, so there's no advantage to compressing to FLV from Premiere if you plan to create a Flash DVD in Encore. -
2. Re: PPro to Encore to FLV workflow...does it degrade quality recompressing already compressed video?
skeeze Oct 29, 2007 12:05 PM (in response to skeeze)Sorry for the confusion, let me re-phrase my question. If you prepare a video out of Premiere Pro for use in Encore (i.e. export to Encore), then Premiere Pro will compress the video using mpeg compression. Once you get the video into Encore, if you build a flash, it then creates the .flv files from mpeg files, which are already compressed, so you are basically compressing the video twice. If you were to export directly to .flv from Premiere Pro, it is true you would not be able to do anything with it other than play it in a different player, but I am just curious how much quality you lose by compressing to flv from an already compressed source and is Adobe planning on making it so you can get the highest quality flash video out of Encore possible? -
3. Re: PPro to Encore to FLV workflow...does it degrade quality recompressing already compressed video?
Joe Bowden Oct 29, 2007 1:08 PM (in response to skeeze)I'm not sure how measurable the quality loss would be, but it would definitely exist, even if it's not visible to the untrained eye (which makes up the bulk of audiences out there).
To get the highest possible quality in Encore's Flash DVD feature, import uncompressed AVI or MOV as your source. But keep in mind even Ultra quality in Encore exports 1200 kbps video streams, which is adequate, but not a lot of bits for 640x480 30 fps video. -

(marotti) Nov 5, 2007 1:40 AM (in response to skeeze)Hello,
You may just want to export your edited timeline ti AVI and import that into Encore.
