1. Re: Do you actually use Sb? How and for what?
Ozpeter Jan 6, 2009 3:09 PM (in response to fuaho)Soundbooth is, I think, an audio tool for video people not wanting to get their hands as dirty as Audition requires. It's also got some flash-related features not present in Audition. But I've not seen the current version. -
2. Re: Do you actually use Sb? How and for what?
Jerry.K Jan 9, 2009 7:26 AM (in response to fuaho)I do use it, primarily to fit music to different length videos. I make a lot of short clips -- 15, 30, 45 seconds, and I like the way Sb will quickly fit scores to these different sizes. The multi-track feature in Sb CS4 makes this even easier. The shortcoming for me is the limited choice of score music available to use this feature. It's not that there isn't enough different ones, it's that my choice in music styles is not really reflected. So I am trying to make my own scores using the score toolkit. That is not easy, as the process is still rather obscure, at least for my brain. But I keep trying. I'm using Au 3 to make the parts, and am hoping that the next version of Au will work symbiotically with Sb to address this directly. -
3. Re: Do you actually use Sb? How and for what?
don solomon Feb 23, 2009 6:33 AM (in response to fuaho)What SB needs is an actual dynamic link with Premiere--both ways. We should be able to see both the video, its linked audio WITH waveforms, and all additional audio tracks replicated in SB, and it all should be directly editable in SB (as it is in Premiere), with the results automatically updated to Premiere There are roundabout workarounds, but they are too time consuming.
Yes, it might be useful for scoring video for me, but I too find the score selection extremely limited. Obviously, they tried to get one or two scores in there for each of a wide range of video possibilities. I found two that I might be able to use. The scores are proprietary, of course, and there is literally no other source for them--other than building your own--something very few professional video editors have the time to do. I am sure the number of scores will grow with time, of course.
As it is now, I find it hardly worth the trouble, but with a true dynamic link, I would use it quite a lot. -

Jeff Bellune Feb 23, 2009 6:34 AM (in response to fuaho)Well, I guess that answers my questions in your other topic. :) -

don solomon Feb 23, 2009 7:11 AM (in response to fuaho)Jeff,
Thanks again for both responses. I was busy answering your response, which I saw just after posting the above. Your response, as they always are, was precise and covered everything with clarity, so it will be very useful to others who come along as well.
I also thought you were responding from the Premiere forum, where I posted a similar plea, so that will explain my confused references to forums in the 'very few users of SB' comments. :) -

(Mike_McCraken) Mar 13, 2009 12:59 PM (in response to fuaho)Strictly music editing is what I use it for. I was using Roxio stuff on my Mac for cleaning up nearly 16,000 mp3s from cassettes, but an Apple update really screwed up most of my software for that. I switched over to using SoundBooth and like Photoshop, the more I use it, the easier and better it gets.
I've started messing with remixing (cutting and pasting clips) and I love the seamless rendering of SoundBooth. I also like that I can open nearly any kind of audio file and save it as whatever I want (usually just an MP3). -

Andy Urtu Mar 16, 2009 9:53 AM (in response to fuaho)I mainly us it for cleaning up audio. I just used it to remove backround noise from an Interview.
