1. Re: Adjustment brush changed its behavior
John K. Shaw Apr 12, 2009 9:03 PM (in response to John K. Shaw)I should add, the brush slightly darkens an area as I paint even though all the sliders are set to zero. I can actually erase this darkening by using the Alt key erase brush mode. If I don't erase, all returns to unadjusted when I deactivate the brush. ???

Dorin Nicolaescu-Musteață Apr 12, 2009 11:37 PM (in response to John K. Shaw)I have no mask active.
I think you do have the mask overlay active. Overlays may not only be green or red, but also dark and light. To prove it to yourself, try Shift-O to cycle through different colors. Hit O to hide the overlay.

John K. Shaw Apr 13, 2009 9:21 AM (in response to John K. Shaw)The mask is not active. Even if I cycle through the mask views, when I return to "no mask" the dark area is still there.

Ian Lyons Apr 13, 2009 10:12 AM (in response to John K. Shaw)Your Lightroom preference file may have become corrupted. Try deleting to see if that helps.

John K. Shaw Apr 13, 2009 3:03 PM (in response to John K. Shaw)Thanks Ian, trashing the preferences file did the trick. Sometimes the correct answer is so obvious that I overlook it (or perhaps it's that the C drive in my brain doesn't always boot up any more!).

Bennett Richards Apr 13, 2009 4:24 PM (in response to John K. Shaw)Where is the LR PList file located... and what will have to be re-set after it's trashed?

7. Re: Adjustment brush changed its behavior
John K. Shaw Apr 13, 2009 9:08 PM (in response to John K. Shaw)In Vista 64 the preferences file is located on your application drive at {User} > AppData > Roaming > Adobe > Lightroom > Preferences. AppData is a hidden file on Windows, so you'll need to open Folder Options in the Control Panel and turn on "view hidden files and folders." You'll have to reset all those choices you initially made as to how Lightroom appears on screen, such as how side panels appear/disappear, grid view options, etc.
