      Hi there,

I need to desing a logo to be printed at about 3'x3' and was wondering the best way to go about this.  Do I make the canvase 3'x3' in photo shop or should I desing this in Illustrator?

      Thanks

      Simon

Logos should be done in Illustrator. While a vector file can be created in PS, sign printers in particular might have trouble with the format. Illustrator was designed for logo creation, PS was not.

I agree with J. Maloney.  Absolutely not Photoshop, the file size may become unmanageable, depending on final resolution.  The advantage to Illustrator is that it will be a vector file which can be sized up or down seamlessly.  You could setup your document 3x3, but that may give you an unrealistic perspective when drawing.  I usually start with a sketch around 3"x5" and scan it grayscale.  Then, I'll "Place" the scan ( dim @ 50% ) and create a drawing layer over it.  When done, save a flattened copy ( or not ) as CMYK and then, copy & paste that into your final 3x3 file where it can be sized up appropriately.
