Gyno-jiz Apr 28, 2009 9:51 AM (in response to Simon Steele)Logos should be done in Illustrator. While a vector file can be created in PS, sign printers in particular might have trouble with the format. Illustrator was designed for logo creation, PS was not.

John Danek Apr 29, 2009 8:05 AM (in response to Simon Steele)I agree with J. Maloney. Absolutely not Photoshop, the file size may become unmanageable, depending on final resolution. The advantage to Illustrator is that it will be a vector file which can be sized up or down seamlessly. You could setup your document 3x3, but that may give you an unrealistic perspective when drawing. I usually start with a sketch around 3"x5" and scan it grayscale. Then, I'll "Place" the scan ( dim @ 50% ) and create a drawing layer over it. When done, save a flattened copy ( or not ) as CMYK and then, copy & paste that into your final 3x3 file where it can be sized up appropriately.
