Hi there,
Here's my dilemma. I'm recording a training simulation of a web application that is running under IE7.
When I type text into the web app, I expect Captivate to convert this to a text entry box. However, instead Captivate is converting typing into a "typing" object.
I think this is related to recording a web application - when I record a windows app, it behaves properly and converts typing into a text entry box.
Anyone seen this or have any suggestions?
Thanks,
M.

Hi there
Are you recording in Demonstration or Simulation mode? I believe Demonstration mode provides Typing Text. Simulation should provide Text Entry Box. You may need to configure Custom mode before recording.

Sometimes I have the same issue in CP4, even in Simulation Mode. I do not know if this is a bug, because it is not always happening. As a workaround I hide the Typing Text on the Timeline and create my proper TEB.

Hi there,
I have seen this happen a lot with web applications. Ever since Captivate 1, CP has encountered problems trying to capture web applications, especially those that rely heavily on JavaScript. To get around most of these issues I capture manually using the PrintScrn key. Some times this will add the text entry boxes, other times (as you have experienced) you just have to add them yourself manually in Edit view.
If you can spare the time, you might want to report this issue to the Adobe Captivate team using link I have incuded below.
