We've missed you. What sort of highlighting are you doing?

Shlomit Heymann Apr 23, 2009 5:04 AM (in response to P Spier)thanks peter
I'm just selecting text. I need a different highlight color as I need to do some screenshots for my manuals, and when printing the manual in a B/W printer the black makes it impossible to print.
As I have many screenshots to do, I wanted to change the highlight color for light green for instance so when I print it it will come out as gray and so it will be usfull for all printers.
I thouhgt I could do it via sys prefs, but discovered the ID overrides it...
thank you

Ken Grace Apr 23, 2009 5:08 AM (in response to Shlomit Heymann)If it's just to create screen grabs, you could mimic the highlight with a custom underline.

Shlomit Heymann Apr 23, 2009 5:11 AM (in response to Ken Grace)thanks, but I don't need an workaround solution - this i know how to do

5. Re: Highlighted text color
P Spier Apr 23, 2009 5:12 AM (in response to Shlomit Heymann)I don't think there's any way to choose the selection highlight color -- it's tied to the background color -- but for making the screen shots you could define a character style with a custom underline. Set the underline to whatever weight, color and offset you need to get the appearance you want, then apply it to the text before taking your screen capture, then undo and move to the next selection.

Shlomit Heymann Apr 23, 2009 5:15 AM (in response to P Spier)Are you 100% sure there is no way to do it?
that will make me sad as the other way will cause me so much work.
because i'm writing a tech manual where all my steps will be shot, this will mean that i will have to apply/unapply char. style all the time which inconvinient...:(

P Spier Apr 23, 2009 6:04 AM (in response to Shlomit Heymann)!00%? No, but more than 90%. I've never seen it mentioned anywhere in all the documentation or tricks I've read.

8. Re: Highlighted text color
Harbs. Apr 23, 2009 6:14 AM (in response to Shlomit Heymann)The hightlight color is always the inverse of the background color. If for example you change the fill color of your text frame to yellow, the hightlight color will be blue (and vice versa).
I don't know if this will help, but technically, the answer is yes...
Maybe you can play around with your monitor profile to get the effect that you want...

9. Re: Highlighted text color
P Spier Apr 23, 2009 6:24 AM (in response to Harbs.)That's what I was trying to say in my second post, but you did it better.
I was thinking maybe changing the [Paper] definition might work, but that's going to add some color to the background in the screen grabs. Perhaps a light yellow or cyan that wouldn't show much.

10. Re: Highlighted text color
Shlomit Heymann Apr 23, 2009 6:25 AM (in response to Harbs.)thanks Herbs,
but to me the answer means NO.
It is impossible to control the color of the Highlight on it's own.
if I want a light green highlight color on white, i'm unable to do so...
I will have to keep with the black

12. Re: Highlighted text color
Shlomit Heymann May 12, 2009 11:59 PM (in response to Harbs.)Thanks Herbs but it still doesn't help.
Light yellow still lives me with a Black Highlight and even though you can do an action it's not the solution I was looking for but will have to as there is no other way...
By the way, the link you post for paper does not work.
cheers,
shlomit

G.Singelmann May 13, 2009 12:06 AM (in response to Shlomit Heymann)>way will cause me so much work.
It takes three (in words 3) keystrokes to apply, deselct and undo.
This is in no context "so much work", especially compared to all the postprocessing a screenshot takes. Shouldn't be noticeable at all in the overall picture.
