D Fosse-QDEaQ1 May 14, 2009 4:06 AM (in response to John Joslin)I just don't believe this.
Some people have no sensitivity to context. Social antennae, is what we call it where I'm from.
Jed: I'm sure there's some sort of diagnosis for your condition. We just don't have the time for this. We're trying to get some work done here.

3. Re: Did Photoshop Steal Features From Corel PHOTO-PAINT?
Q Photo May 14, 2009 4:12 AM (in response to sfjedi)Jed,
This is an Adobe Photoshop forum. It is provided so users of Photoshop may exchange information. Please be advised that NO ONE here cares about Photo Paint or Corel.

4. Re: Did Photoshop Steal Features From Corel PHOTO-PAINT?
sfjedi May 14, 2009 4:45 AM (in response to Q Photo)I understand that nobody on these forums gives a flying hoot about PP and I have no anticipation of converting anyone to PP, but if you're interested in PS and all, wouldn't you also be interested in the history of it? Besides, I'm just trying to get some validity on these statements. I guess you guys take things too personally though.
The forum is pretty general. It doesn't say anything about getting work done. It just says Photoshop Windows, which means I'm nowhere off topic here.

5. Re: Did Photoshop Steal Features From Corel PHOTO-PAINT?
John Joslin May 14, 2009 5:03 AM (in response to sfjedi)You are acting like a child.
You are noise in the forum spectrum that we don't need.
I for one won't bother to respond any more .

6. Re: Did Photoshop Steal Features From Corel PHOTO-PAINT?
Q Photo May 14, 2009 5:08 AM (in response to sfjedi)I really only care that Photoshop works for me. Not interested in the history of Adobe what so ever as that does not affect my income. Please feel free to post whatever you care to. That being said, be aware that I find your avatar pretty stupid. It's like wearing a Cowboys jersey to a Steelers home game. You have to expect some negative feedback.
-
7. Re: Did Photoshop Steal Features From Corel PHOTO-PAINT?
sfjedi May 14, 2009 5:11 AM (in response to Q Photo)Oh, I definitely expect negative feedback, but I just think it's funny.
Why pretend to be a Photoshop fan when I'm not? I only use it because they make me use it at school and it goes well on a resume.
Some people might call it stupid, but I call it being real. There's a lot of fakers out there that just follow the crowd or whatever.

This is one definition of a troll.
Less offensive than our favourite but just as big a nuisance.

10. Re: Did Photoshop Steal Features From Corel PHOTO-PAINT?
sfjedi May 14, 2009 5:41 AM (in response to sfjedi)Guys... guys... straight from urbandictionary.com, "A troll usually flames threads without staying on topic."
You guys didn't even answer my original question to the discussion here! And you're going to call ME a troll? Talk about off topic! This is my thread!

11. Re: Did Photoshop Steal Features From Corel PHOTO-PAINT?
Zeno Bokor May 14, 2009 5:48 AM (in response to sfjedi)Well, if you want to get into the technical stuff then this thread is flame bait

12. Re: Did Photoshop Steal Features From Corel PHOTO-PAINT?
sfjedi May 14, 2009 5:59 AM (in response to Zeno Bokor)I always liked Zeno's attitude and responses.
I guess I can see why you guys view my posts this way. Of course, flame bait wouldn't work so well if people didn't get offended so easily. Either way, I really have a motive here and it's to know where to find information like this. I've been looking for the last week and I just discovered this...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Photoshop_release_history
Which is only half of the puzzle.
Believe me, I posted on the Corel forums first, but nobody seems to know exact dates.

As I posted in your other thread, PS has had layers since 1994. I have found no traceable timeline for PP.

WebDesign3 May 14, 2009 9:03 AM (in response to sfjedi)I used both Photoshop and Photopaint when I builded my {bye bye link} website and I say that Photoshop is a lot better, also I dont't think PS stealed features from Corel Photo Paint. Maybe was a little inspiration but nothing more. the 2 programs are a lot different in every features.

As a whole, it is better! I never said otherwise!
But years ago, there was a time that I believe PP WAS better (until PP v8-9) and the strides that Adobe has made since have definitely put them so far ahead in the race that I don't have any anticipation of PP catching up; thus, I pray that some features will eventually be added to Adobe's PS in the hopes that my life would be easier.
So if you built your site any time within the last decade I'd say you're right on. And what a pleasant distraction it was to critique your site!

TLL... May 14, 2009 9:12 AM (in response to Ozzwoman9)I'd love to see how far "Corel PHOTO-PAINT artist" will get you on a resume...

21. Re: Did Photoshop Steal Features From Corel PHOTO-PAINT?
Ozzwoman9 May 14, 2009 9:18 AM (in response to TLL...)Yeah I like how he stated in a previous stupid post that he's been doing this stuff for 15 years!! Come on, did anyone look at his profile pic?? I mean he's still in school and all, must have been doing this stuff when he was in diapers. You'd think he knows it all by now, oh wait I forgot he does!!
You can't possibly understand how productive this can be unless you have relied on it for so long (myself, 15 years). I literally use this command ALL the freakin' TIME!
Upon farther review I'd say he picked out a few brain cells too:

22. Re: Did Photoshop Steal Features From Corel PHOTO-PAINT?
D Fosse-QDEaQ1 May 14, 2009 2:44 PM (in response to Ozzwoman9)Yeah, this is brain damage we're looking at.
Probably a little-known syndrome with a composite, German-sounding name, like Klinger-Anspach or something. It manifests itself by a complete inability to decipher the underlying meaning in spoken or written language. Every word is taken at face value. All emotional content, like anger, surprise, frustration and so on is lost. Trying to communicate with such an individual can be a bizarre excercise in futility.
There is no known cure. So let's just ignore him.
FWIW, John J has reported his activities as spam in the Comments forum. Not sure if it will accomplish anything.

Yeah, I got an email saying it ws reported, but that the moderators didn't have a problem with any of it.
That photo waas taken about 6 years ago. I'm glad you think I look so young. Actually, I've been using PHOTO-PAINT since I was 14. I got really involved in it and used it every day, seriously. It's how I got introduced to web design. I'll be 29 here in July.
You WISH you had a cool photo like that one!
I knew someone was going to look me up. I'm ALL OVER the interwebz!
I'm still in school because I made a switch from Computer Science to Philosophy to 3D Animation and Visual Effects: Rigging. It was part-time school up until I moved to San Francisco to go to art school. Now I'm full time and it's still gonna' take 5 years total to graduate this place. 2.5 to go. I guess I won't graduate before I turn 30.

The name is Jed and I'd rather be neurotic than the one throwing out wild presumptions.
