Bill Hunt May 17, 2009 7:22 PM (in response to Michelmnr)MM,
It took about three full days, for mine to get up and running. This was in the very beginning of the new fora, so it might be quicker now. I asked the same question then, and the various MOD's indicated that it was just a time thing, and not an action by a committee.
I think that I'd just be patient. Can't wait to see it.

Stan Jones May 17, 2009 8:10 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)The "instant one" is a standard option - i.e. does not need approval. It was not clear to me whether, since that is still your current avatar, you have switched back to your not yet approved custom avatar. I suspect that it will not get reviewed if you do not have it selected. I suggest selecting your custom avatar again, and wait for the approval.

Thanks guys, I had no idea it could take so long so I'll give it another go. I would like Bill's one I thought it well suited for a Frenchman but I'm no copy cat so I'll stick to my one if it's approved.

Bill Hunt May 19, 2009 6:10 PM (in response to Michelmnr)MM,
I have not yet declared "wine-thirty," so that cannot be the problem. Your "new and improved" (or should that be "new and approved?") avatar looks just like the old one. Am I missing something here?
As for mine, I should have used a glass of white (obviously a nice white Burg) and a glass of red (maybe a Bdx, or big Cal-Cab), as I have no preferences. Anything from Affentaler to Zinfandel, and everything in between - so long as it's well-made. However, this is the avatar that I've used for some years on Chowhound, so I stuck it up here. Took about 3 full days for the approval process. I guess that they had to run it through Photoshop and make sure there were no subliminal messages in the wine, say "buy Final Cut Pro... " or similar.
Please tell me what has changed with your avatar, unless you just like messin' with my mind.
Hunt
