1. Re: EULA question--when I upgraded to CS4, do I still have 2 activations of CS3?
John Joslin May 20, 2009 9:54 PM (in response to dpick2)Yes you can continue to use CS3 at work.
The intent of the EULA is to restrict the licence for each version to use on two computers but not simultaneously.

D Fosse-QDEaQ1 May 21, 2009 1:38 AM (in response to dpick2)Am I reading this wrong, John? He has two CS4 activations at home and wants to activate CS3 for work.
I have CS4 on my home computer and laptop. I'd like to use CS3 at work using one of my two activations.
I thought the upgrade was tied to the old version, so that the sum total of activated machines is still two?
I'm basically in the same situation, all they will give me at work is an old multi-seat CS2 license, which is useless in terms of Camera Raw. I just said shucks and brought one of my own machines to work.

3. Re: EULA question--when I upgraded to CS4, do I still have 2 activations of CS3?
John Joslin May 21, 2009 1:44 AM (in response to D Fosse-QDEaQ1)I realised afterwards it might not be so simple.
What I thought was, if CS3 was already activated it would continue to work even if CS4 were activated subsequently.
It's a grey area.

4. Re: EULA question--when I upgraded to CS4, do I still have 2 activations of CS3?
dpick2 May 21, 2009 4:25 AM (in response to dpick2)Thanks for the input. I've read the CS4 EULA, and it's very confusing on this point. It seems to say, "Yes," then it seems to say, "No." My problem is when I try to deactivate CS3 on my laptop (which now has CS4), it simply refuses to deactivate. I've called Adobe, and the customer service people I've talked to are unable to figure out how to deactivate. Before I make a stink about it, I'd like to know if I even have the right through EULA to "fight the good fight" to get that activation back.

5. Re: EULA question--when I upgraded to CS4, do I still have 2 activations of CS3?
John Joslin May 21, 2009 4:39 AM (in response to dpick2)Somehow I don't think Adobe Customer Service will know. It's probably not covered in their cue cards.

6. Re: EULA question--when I upgraded to CS4, do I still have 2 activations of CS3?
dave milbut May 21, 2009 7:45 AM (in response to dpick2)no. you have 2 activations. period. new versions superceed older versions. you can't legally install cs3 in order to get a "3rd (or 4th) actitivation" once you've installed cs4 as an upgrade to cs3.
you CAN continue to use 3 as a backup and while you get up to speed with cs4, but you're supposed to uninstall it when you become comfortable with the new software.
so what you're asking is technically possible, but it goes against the intent of the EULA.

Mylenium May 21, 2009 8:06 AM (in response to dave milbut)As Dave said - it may be possible, but it would go against the spirit of the legal blurb.
