Harm Millaard May 21, 2009 8:49 AM (in response to film418)Have a look at BlackMagic, AJA Kona or Motu V4.

Ann Bens May 21, 2009 8:51 AM (in response to film418)At present there are only two options: a Matrox RTx2 or a Black Magic Card.
A Matrox Parhelia is only suited for SD.
Edit; forgot about the AJA.

Harm Millaard May 21, 2009 8:57 AM (in response to Ann Bens)Matrox is a dirty word IMO.

film418 May 21, 2009 10:06 AM (in response to Harm Millaard)I was aware of the decklink cards, but was of the opinion that they would not output cineform files or something along that line. That, plus getting information directly from Blackmagic was absolutly impossible.
I haven't the heart (or the time) to deal with Matrox again, so I guess I will try and find other decklink users hopefully that are working with cineform files.
Anybody out there?

Harm Millaard May 21, 2009 10:13 AM (in response to film418)Either have a look here http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/cineform-software-showcase/ or post a question to David Newman, the CTO. He can probably help you and my experience is that he is very quick to respond. His presence there is frequent and much appreciated.

Mark Morreau May 21, 2009 10:38 AM (in response to film418)I know it's a moot point anyhow, but I don't think you can monitor full HD with the RT.X2, which works at 1440 x 1080. For full HD you need the Axio LE.
Given the proprietory nature of Matrox' products I'd also be surprised is you can edit with the codec you're using in a Matrox preset. However I don't know that for sure.
Matrox have, however, just brought out the MX02 mini which might be just the thing you need:

Bill Gehrke May 21, 2009 12:00 PM (in response to film418)I do not know if this qualifies or not but I simply have a second computer monitor (Sony 1920 x1200) and run it off the second DVI output from my graphics card. It runs full HD output with black bars on top and bottom. Since you are already running dual monitors you might just try installing a second graphics card and try to see if you can enable the "Playback Settings" to have your playback on a third screen.
(Sorry for the late edit but my KMV switch failed to reconnect the keyboard)
Let us know if this works

film418 May 21, 2009 12:40 PM (in response to Bill Gehrke)Might I ask what your graphics card is and whether or not you're running Vista? Thanks.

Mark Morreau May 21, 2009 12:47 PM (in response to Bill Gehrke)Doh! Of course the second monitor method works as well! I'm generally working with an RT.X2, but if I want to work in Adobe native mode for some reason I can just select the second monitor in the Premiere playback settings.
I have 2 x HP LP2475 monitors which do 1920 x 1200. My graphics card is an ATI x1950 with dual DVI outputs.

Bill Gehrke May 21, 2009 1:29 PM (in response to film418)My graphics card is a geForce 8800GT. If you have any old PCIe graphics card it should work fine as long as it can be set to 1920 x 1200 resolution and 32 bit color. I run it both under Vista 64 and XP Pro (32-bit).
