1. Re: How to sort files by DATE taken in Edit View?
Paul_LS Jun 4, 2009 12:42 AM (in response to jerzypk)Unfortunately you can not. Best you can do is include a number sequence (0001, 0002, 0003...) in the media name and then organize via the name.

jerzypk Jun 4, 2009 1:01 AM (in response to Paul_LS)Thank you, Paul. I think I know what happend; I unistalled several applications from my system and I must have touched something that belong to PE7 initial configuration... silly me... . So far I had it OK. At least now I know that it is not possible. Thank you.

4. Re: How to sort files by DATE taken in Edit View?
Steve Grisetti Jun 4, 2009 5:19 AM (in response to jerzypk)You CAN add the Media Start column, which will arrange the files listed in your Project media panel by start times. Will that help?

5. Re: How to sort files by DATE taken in Edit View?
Paul_LS Jun 4, 2009 6:55 AM (in response to Steve Grisetti)Yes, as Steve says there are a number of other column options that you haven't probably seen. You need to go to Window>Show Docking Headers, then click on the docking header for the Media Panel (to the right of Tasks) and select Edit Columns. You will then see a complete list of column display options.

6. Re: How to sort files by DATE taken in Edit View?
jerzypk Jun 4, 2009 3:20 PM (in response to jerzypk)Thank you guys for your helpfull hints. Unfortunately all I can see in Media Start column that I just added are: "00;00;00;00" for all the assets added already to my project. Sorting that column changes the sort up or down the list, without actually sorting the clips by "Date" they were taken with my camera. They appear in the right order in the "Organize" panel, so I guess I will work from there (not sure why I stubbornly want to use the "Edit" panel for adding the assets to the project?).

7. Re: How to sort files by DATE taken in Edit View?
Peter Duke Jun 9, 2009 7:46 AM (in response to jerzypk)If you use DVdate (by Glagla) to capture your DV tapes or HDVsplit for HDV tapes, the clip files can be named according to shooting time and date. These will then readily sort alpha-numerically in correct chronological order. You have the added advantage that the shooting time/date is visible within PE.
Edit
The cature program for DV tapes is called WinDV. Sorry.
