I created a new RH project and it created a default TOC. Then I created a new TOC and I can't delete the default one and that's the one that keeps displaying. Any ideas?
Thanks.

Hi again
Arrrgh! I'm so sorry! Silly me. I'm mixing up my RoboHelp versions.
I just checked my version 7 and it doesn't seem to offer any ability to nominate a different TOC as the default. RoboHelp 8 does.
Again I apologize.
When you edit the layout properties, you are given the option of choosing the TOC to use with the layout. Does this help?
Cheers... Rick

In Project Manager, Table of Contents: 1) select your new TOC; 2) right click; and 3) select Set as Default.
Then, you could do the same thing with the old TOC but select Delete in step 3.
Good luck,
Leon

Hi,
I don't get the set as default option. I only get Edit. View and Delete are grayed out. I don't see set as default.

What version of RoboHelp are you using?
Can you post a screen capture?

Hi again
Try that again. Save the screen print to your hard drive first. Then use the camera icon sitting next to the Smiley face to insert the image.
Click the image to see a larger view.

Hi all,
I just now also finally decided to make a concerted effort to delete that pesky, original default TOC, so I found this post.
Ok, so that helps me to output to the TOC of my choice -- which I already managed to work out -- but I don't see how to set the TOC of my choice to be the (new) default (so enabling me to then delete the old default).
Is there no way? Maybe soembody know of a config file that I can manually edit the contents of?

MergeThis provides the steps above in his post 10 June.
It is a RH8 only option.

Ok. I am using RH HTML 7.
(Not much chance of getting RH 8; at this client they even want to take away my LCD and give me an old, half-broken CRT - so fat chance of getting an upgrade to RH 8).

Hi there
Note that the TOC data is found inside a file with an extension of .HHC. These are simple text files.
One way to accomplish what you are wanting would be to open each of the TOCs, select and copy all the data from the desired TOC and paste it in to replace the data in the existing "Default" TOC.
There may be another way. Haven't looked yet. If I discover it, I'll post back.
Cheers... Rick

Hi there
An excellent suggestion for sure. But I'm afraid it will only apply to posts made from here going forward. A post is only editable for about 15 minutes after you initially post it.
