1. Re: "Reduce File Size" Spaces/Spreads out text...
MichaelKazlow Mar 4, 2009 5:39 PM (in response to BranderChatfield)Most of the inflation I see is related to subsets of fonts being
embedded in every page. I recommend removing the font subsets and
re-embedding one the entire font. See if this allows for a smaller size.
You can remove fonts and re-install them with the Preflight tool.

MichaelKazlow Mar 4, 2009 5:40 PM (in response to BranderChatfield)You can also choose how to minimize the size of the graphics with the
pdf optimizer. It gives you much finer control than the Reduce File size.

BranderChatfield Mar 5, 2009 6:25 AM (in response to BranderChatfield)So, seems Optimizer is the way to go instead of Reduce File Size. Just was kind of wondered as to why the text in these particular reduced PDFs started going awry with CS4. -
4. Re: "Reduce File Size" Spaces/Spreads out text...
cHeiberg7 Jun 12, 2009 1:44 PM (in response to BranderChatfield)I have this same font issue when I use AA9 to Reduce file size or Optimize. If optimize is doing it also, what option in the optimize menus can I shut off to avoid this. Currently I have had to use AA8 to get around this.
Tips appreciated!

5. Re: "Reduce File Size" Spaces/Spreads out text...
cHeiberg7 Jun 12, 2009 1:52 PM (in response to cHeiberg7)I do have all of my font embedded. In optimize, when I shut off the unembed fonts option (which I have never allowed to unembed), remove attachments and optimize page options, none of this helped. If I only use the images section of the optimize, it seems to not mess up the fonts, but it doesn't make the file size as small as I'd like...
