Eric Addison Jun 16, 2009 7:57 AM (in response to tclark513)FYI everyone - Wil Renczes said he's seeing the problem too, so the PPro team is aware...while I'd like to believe that a fix will becoming very soon for this, I have to think we won't see a fix until the next update, when ever that is...while they are at it, I hope they fix the 12 frame jump of the CTI when playing back to an external monitor, as well as a couple other things...

JSS1138 Jun 16, 2009 8:00 AM (in response to Eric Addison)Well, it seems the 4.1 update is the culprit here. I never installed that, and never had an issue.
Nice to know Wil is aware of it, though.

JBrown321 Jun 16, 2009 8:01 AM (in response to Eric Addison)I would love to see Adobe release small updates periodically for problems like this instead of waiting months for a big update release. Adobe, we love your products, we just need better support.

Harm Millaard Jun 16, 2009 8:15 AM (in response to Eric Addison)For what it's worth, I just got off the phone with TS and they escalated this issue. As usual they are extremely vague in giving response times and based on previous experiences with escalated issues, my expectation is that this will be solved in CS5 at the earliest. Early after CS3 was released I had a problem that was escalated as well and never got an answer, apart from saying: "we are aware of the problem and the developers are working on it". This issue was resolved in CS4, so it took them over 18 months to solve it.
The one thing that - at least for me - does not make this a dealbreaker, is that due to the lag over the firewire connection, I always use external device audio to avoid lip sync issues.
Eric, good to know that Wil confirmed this, because is much closer to the source than any of us. I hope that helps resolving this before CS5 comes out.

I have been dealing with that one also...

Eric...Can you point me to the thread where Wil talks about it? Thanks!

OK. You got me curious.

48. Re: Jim Simon question??? (Source and Program monitor freeze)
Harm Millaard Jun 16, 2009 1:50 PM (in response to JSS1138)Jim,
I have been using two monitors for ages. With CS3 during startup I had intermittent problems that the program started up in maximized mode, with the consequence that one monitor was used and the other not at all. In order to get my default screen layout, I had to click the 'restore down' icon to get my normal two screen layout. In CS4 this problem has been resolved.
The strange thing about this anomaly was that this behaviour occurred around 90% of the time, but sometimes it did not happen. The other strange thing was that while showing the splash screen, both monitors were used, while choosing an existing project, two monitors were used, but after choosing a project it mostly opened in maximized mode on one screen.

49. Re: Jim Simon question??? (Source and Program monitor freeze)
Eric Addison Jun 18, 2009 8:00 PM (in response to Harm Millaard)Well, gang...here's something I noticed tonight...
As I was playing back some test footage I shot with the new HPX-300, I noticed that the program monitor was skipping a bit...I had the footage going out to the external monitor, and it should have been freezing up completely, but it would play a bit, then freeze...maybe a few frames more - then freeze.
I opened up am AVCHD project...same thing. Opened up an XDCAM HD project - same thing...
No idea what any of this means, just thought I'd report back what I saw.
I know better to ask this, but here goes...Hello - anyone from Adobe reading this?? Can you give us some insight or any updates about this annoying problem??
PLEASE don't make this the equivalent to title panel creep from CS3 - that was so annoying, and it never was fixed...

Eric Addison Jun 18, 2009 8:50 PM (in response to JSS1138)I don't have time right now to go over everthing - I may later on my blog - http://100acrefilmstechcorner.blogspot.com/ (I'm new at the whole blogging thing so if you click over, go easy on me!)
Short review - very nice camera...very, very nice. I did notice a LOT of skew in the 1080 24p mode, and most of the other modes as well - but that's to be expected with the CMOS sensor. The picture quality was great, and I love the feel of it...it's nice working with a full size camera. I'm a Panasonic guy, and while I've flirted with the Sony EX cameras, this one is almost to good to pass up. Panasonic images just look so good to me. One concern I have is the 1/3' chip...I like that the EX cameras have that 1/2". My plan is to get this camera as an A camera, and the HMC-150 for a B camera...I've got some great looking footage from that camera. Say what you will about AVCHD, that camera makes a really nice looking image.
Now if Adobe will release the native AVC-I support, I'll be all set...
But let's get back on topic...

tclark513 Aug 2, 2010 10:11 AM (in response to jo_dfilm)Now that we have some ears from Adobe... Any word on this Todd, Dennis or Jeremy? Was this by design in version 4.1 or an unintended bug that hopefully is being worked on to fix it in CS5.
