I work with RH8HTML and generate both HTML- and Web-Help. I am wondering whether it's possible to create a search box (like in Outlook, see picture) in our application, where users can type any kind of search criteria, and when they press 'Enter', the Help would be opened and they would get a choice of results (like they had typed in the search-box in the Help itself).
I hope you understand what I mean ... and that somebody can tell me whether this is possible or not. Neither in the RH8-384-pages-Help-PDF-File nor in other forums did I find anything about this.
Your support is much appreciated.
Greetings from Switzerland,
Microsoft have a lot of resources at their disposal that they can use to integrate their applications with the help. What they have done I'd say requires some sort of application code that stores a searchable database of keywords that you can use via the field. Their help is more than likely not pure webhelp but a customised version of it. So the answer you want is "probably yes" but it would require additional application code and resources.
Read the RoboColum(n) for mutterings on RoboHelp, Technical Communication Suite and technical communication.
Always better to insert images using the Camera icon as they then show immediately.
By using ZoomSearch as described on my site, you can get the results to display in the Topic Pane. Not quite what you want but close.
