Hello, this is my first attempt in a forum so hopefully, I can ask the question correctly. I am a recent new user of Captivate 3 and all the playing I have been doing has worked well. (I also took a two day class and have read everything in help menu) During this last week, when attempting manual recording, it does nothing when I press the print screen button. The first screen seems to be captured as soon as I hit record. The END button doesn't work, Auto-recording worked one hour before but then not again. I am not using FMR. I have tried going back to all default settings and starting over as described in the manual. I am really frustrated. Thank you in advance.
Thank heaven the forum is available, the support center is worthless, provided you could even understand a word they said.

This is certainly very odd that it would stop working all of a sudden. I like Captivate but even I have very odd issues with it. Like today it just decided that it didn't want to run anymore and told me that I needed to install it. Yeah right!
Anyway, I can't really help with all of this as I've not had these specific issues. However the PrintScreen issue, I have a question/suggestion. We use a program called SnagIt that takes over when I press PrintScreen. SnagIt allows me to pick what I want an image of rather than doing a traditional PrintScreen. Anyway, Snagit has to be disabled during the Captivate recording process otherwise it takes over when I press PrintScreen. Could it be that you have a similar program that might be utilizing this button? Does the button perform the task it is intended for outside of Captivate? Could be the button isn't actually working?
Just a thought. I hope you get this figured out.

Hi there Chopper
If you configure either Captivate or SnagIt with a different Print Screen key, they can both coexist. For example, I've configured my SnagIt to use Ctrl+Print Screen for its captures.
Just thought I'd mention it... Rick

Thank you for your input. I have been going nuts with it especially with the working/not working. I think it may be related to the application I am trying to capture as I have difficulty using Paintshop Pro as well. I have been in contact with the application tech support to see if there is some thing from that aspect. I do have snagit and have it disabled. I can record almost everything else on my computer but the one application which of course is the one I need to use.

I am experiencing the same problem today in Captivate CS4. It was working fine this morning and then when I tried to record something new, I only get the first screen. If I hit the print screen button, I get a capture of that screen, but my mouse movements and clicks aren't recording. I found an old post about deleting the .dat file, but that didn't work.
Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Steve

Hi Stevieg954,
Please follow these steps:
1. On the red rectangle where you see the black strip(in Adobe Captivate 4), select the MMR icon. It is the camera icon just below the record icon.
2. Select that icon and then press record.
This would solve your issue.

Thanks. I figured it out. It was set on manual recording.... not sure how it set itself on that though.
