Livecycle PDF Generator on Unix environment

Avatar

Hi,
Has anyone installed Adobe LiveCycle PDF generator on a Unix platform for converting Microsoft Office documents to the PDF format?
- How does it work, since Microsoft Office cannot be installed on the Solaris platform?
- I read that Open Office needs to be installed on the Unix m/c for the actual conversion. Is it True?
- What is the quality of the PDF's generated when the PDF Generator is on Unix platform?

On Unix you must use Open Office to convert those docs. The fidelity of the docs are usually not as good as MS Office conversions but it is very dependant on th eoriginal doc and how it was constructed.

Hi,

Thanks for the response.

Do you know the prerequisites for installing Adobe on the Unix (Solaris) environment? Do we need Adobe Acrobat Professional? On windows we need it. Is Adobe Acrobat Professional supported on Solaris??

Hi,

IMHO Acrobat Professionial is not available on Solaris so it is not needed. On my Linux installation is also no Acrobat Professional available and PDF Generator ist working fine.
