Harm Millaard Jul 11, 2009 10:33 PM (in response to Shao Lung)If you are using the trial version, beware that there is no support for MPEG at all. For the rest, look at this link and also look at the two links inside this message, the first for troubleshooting and ending with 16 questions in the Finally section, the second more generic where the latter part may give you some hints on data required to help you.

Bill Hunt Jul 12, 2009 9:51 AM (in response to Shao Lung)With similar situations, the process usually breaks down this way, and pretty much in this order:
1.) System
2.) Assets
3.) Project
Without all details (at the end of the link in Harm's post), no one will know for sure.
For some System troubleshooting, you might find some help in this ARTICLE.
Good luck,

Shao Lung Jul 12, 2009 10:03 AM (in response to Harm Millaard)Found the problem - in copying over some plug-in files from CS3 that I have had for years, I mistakenly copied over the AISO.PRM file from 2005. When Pro tried painting the sound wave file, I got a crash-expectedly, of course.

It's always a good idea for one to use the 'bare' version of a program before adding things to it, just to make sure it works.

Bill Hunt Jul 12, 2009 5:01 PM (in response to JSS1138)I agree completely. Even with Photoshop, I've found many 3rd party Filters that fritzed up a new installation. I always work with it, and then go slowly with even things like Actions and Brushes, especially as there have been some recent changes in how PS handles these. Evenything gets added, one at a time, and then tested.
