Will webhelp generated via Robohelp HTML be compatible for my endusers using unc instead of mapped drives?
Most of our help files are winhelp but we hope to in the next 3 months convert them all. The idea was to go to webhelp as many of our users may not have Internet Explorer. We have a new product module and did the help with Robohelp HTML 7 and generated as webhelp. It works fine on some machines, but other machines go directly to their homepage instead. We discovered the difference was those using mapped drives worked. We found this article http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/276513 which suggests that the answer would be to ask our users to map their drives. That is not a viable option. Also I found an unanswered post http://forums.adobe.com/message/207443#207443 and this one http://forums.adobe.com/message/422419#422419 which states "Robohelp is not UNC compliant" but it is from 2006. My question is, "Will webhelp be a viable option?"

Hi there
WebHelp should work fine with UNC drives. These are similar to HTTP. There is nothing in WebHelp that would mandate you needed a hard coded drive letter to make it work.
Cheers... Rick
