Cannot Generate Primary Layout, Invalid Media Error

Hello,

I am currently using Robohelp x5. I am getting the error, "Invalid Media. Cannot create file Y:\JUSTIN\AwareHelpStage", when i try to generate the primary layout for my project. Does anyone have any insight on what could potentially be the problem?

Also, when I go to, File->Generate Primary Layout, and change the Output Folder. I get a different error, "Please select a new project subfolder, or a folder outside of the project path".

I do not have a "Y:\" on my computer or, at least when i try to visit it my computer cannot find it.

I have 95% .gifs and only a few .png's in my project. Could this be the media error this is referring to?

I changed the name of my .xpj, about 70% of the way through the project, from what it originially was. I am unsure, if I have attempted to generate a primary layout since I changed the name. Could there be some kind of confusion in the system when it tries to generate the layout because of this? The reason i ask, is because it calls the name of my project, its original name in the "Project Name" text box, when I go to File->Generate Primary Layout.

Thanks for your time,

Ben

Hi there

Y would seem to refer to a netwok location.

I might suggest you right-click your Single Source Layouts folder and create a totally fresh layout. Leave the output folder path as it is in the new layout. See if that solves anything.

Correct! At first I misunderstood your reply and, tried to clear the actual SSL folder in the project file... Silly me.

Regardless, I created a new Webhelp Pro layout in Robohelp iteslf. Under, the Single Source Layouts folder on the Project tab. Generated the Primary Layout through the new SSL layout file and, it worked.

Thanks.

Hi there

Happy to hear you seem to have solved the issue.

I couldn't help but notice your mention of "WebHelp Pro" as the output type. Are you creating that because you also have RoboHelp Server and you are publishing to the RoboHelp Server? Or are you choosing that output type as you believe that if WebHelp is all that and a bag of chips, the "Pro" version has just GOT to be somehow better?

Cheers... Rick

Pretty much, I am the only person in a seven man company, who has been trying to learn this program and, do this project. So, yes I am assuming "webhelp pro" is all that and a bag of chips-and more!-until it gives me a reason not to bellieve so. I won't be publishing to the robohelp server. I am to simply to have it available for acess online through our server. Would it make more sense to use a different format?

Thanks for your concern,

Ben
