I have a file with the artboard being 8" tall by 36" wide. This is 1/10th the final size (its going to be a huge wall mural where 1" = 1'). Anyway, to get an idea of what the text size will look like when printed full size I have been printing off portions of the file at 1000% increased scale and then tiling and taping the papers together. It worked perfectly until I saved the file as a PDF (at the artboard size of 8"x36"). Now, when I load up my original AI file and try to scale, tile, and print...I cannot. The TILE option is completely greyed out, unselectable.
Does anybody know why this is occurring? I have closed and reloaded AI and am working on a Mac.
I am still on CS3 so excuse my ignorance. The tile option is usually greyed out when the size of your document matches or is smaller than the size of the page. Therefore for the tie option to be available you should design your document at full size 1:1.
Are you on CS4 and have multiple artboards in your document? if that's the case then select Ignore Artboards from the Print dialog box
Zeno, your answer solved my problem. Thank you very much!
