Can anyone offer assistance with an IE 7 issue? We have created a project in Captivate 3. We have 8 independent projects generated within a menubuilder. We can open the project in Firefox and everything works wonderfully.... we cannot open the project in IE7. Any ideas?

Welcome to our community, WriteSoldier

Sorry, but we need more information.

What is your output type? (EXE, SWF, SWF/HTML combination)
How are you testing? For example, where are you running the content from?

Cheers... Rick

Menu builder and all projects are swf. We compiled in Flash 7 and everything could be viewed in Firefox. Then I read there were issues with Flash 9 which is used with IE7, so we published again this time in Flash 9 and now we cannot view the project in Firefox or IE7.

Also, for testing, we ask QA to open the menubuilder swf from the folder we publish to. QA can "Open with" Fire fox and view the entire project without issue when we publish for Flash player 7. If we try to "Open with" IE, nothing loads. We tried installing Flash Player to view it, but the install is not successful.

We have also tried publishing project for Flash player 7 with the menu builder as html. Again, it plays fine in Firefox, and though we can open it in IE7, when you play a project from within the menu, it does not return to the menu when the project is complete. We have each independent project set to "Open a file or URL" at the end, and we entered the file for the menu builder, but IE7 does not re-load the menu builder as it should.

Hello again

Where are you testing this? Locally or on a server?

If you are testing from a local drive, there are a few different reasons links may fail. One has to do with Flash Player Security settings. I'm guessing that isn't the case as you cite that FireFox works and the problem is specific to IE.

For IE you may wish to see if removing the Mark of the Web from the HTML page helps. It will look like this in the HTML code:
<!-- saved from url=(0013)about:internet -->

You may also wish to adjust your IE browser settings by clicking Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab > Security section and enabling the check box labeled: Allow active content to run in files on My Computer.

Cheers... Rick

Soldier,
We just released a product called Launch Pad to address these types of issues - allowing you to quickly build a web page with a menu to play multiple Captivate movies. The page dynamically loads Captivate SWFs into a designated DIV tag. It's compatible with Captivate versions 1-4, with any version of Flash Player. Extensively tested in all major browsers. More information at Launch Pad Website. Take care, Todd
