Newbe wants to learn to make motion menus

Hi, I am trying to learn how to make motion menus. I have learned how to make a menu in Photoshop, and import it into Encore, but when it gets there, I can't figure out how to get the motion part of it to work. The frame where the video is supposed to be playing, just shows a still image. Could I have missed a step when creating it in Photoshop, or am I just not doing something properly in Encore CS4? Where do go from here?

I'm a bit embarassed, because it was too simple, but I figured it out. I didn't realize that I had to render the motion menu before it would do anything. I expected it to work like the effects and transitions. Just place them in, and they work.

            Terry,

As you have found out, there is much to learn about Menus. Besides the book rec. in another thread, I strongly recommend that one work with some of the existing Menu "templates," and study them very closely in PS. All will be revealed, though the various necessary conventions (especially Layer, and Layer Set, naming conventions) will soon become clear. Once you "get it," it will be easy, but there are rules, and you must learn them first.

Once one gets that necessary structure in their mind, it will be time to move on to Menu Color Sets, which will only be accessible from Encore, not from PS. This is a mean little trick that the world will play on you. Maybe with CS5 suite, that one little "gotcha" might be incorporated into PS too.

            Good luck,
