Bill Hunt Aug 4, 2009 5:18 PM (in response to terry lee martin)Terry,
Most likely, it is not OE on this Project. It is highly likely that your Functional Content did not install properly in the first place.
Did you install from a download, or from a DVD? There can be a difference in how to handle this, but it will depend on where you installed from.
Your answer will determine the next step to get your Functional Content.
Good luck,

Bill Hunt Aug 4, 2009 5:25 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)Be sure to read Jeff Bellune's reply #1 for the location of these Assets. Also see my reply #10 for the file types that should be in that folder hierarchy.
If needed, I can give you the folder structure for earlier versions of En, though not for CS4. They should be similar, though not necessarliy identical.
Good luck,

5. Re: No menu presets in Encore.
terry lee martin Aug 8, 2009 7:52 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)I think that my lack of presets is a good thing. It is inspiring me to create my own in Photoshop.
For some reason, I did have access to all of the templates the first day that I installed Premiere Pro CS4. I previewed several of them and went through all the catagories just to see what was in there. Actually I wasn't all that impressed and remember thinking at the time that I could do better than this. About 3 hours later I attempted to access them again, and they were all gone. I don't have a clue what happened to them in the meantime, but I'm not concerned about it anymore. Now I just have to learn all the tricks of making my own. Thank you all.

Bill Hunt Aug 10, 2009 9:34 PM (in response to terry lee martin)Terry,
I do not find the Library that useful for my Projects in general. However, I do strongly recommend that one start with one, just to get the basics down. Now, I have built many personal Menus, and can easily adapt those to my needs. The real use of the Library Assets is to get a starting point. Once one learns the basics, represented there, it's easy.
Good luck,

terry lee martin Aug 11, 2009 6:21 AM (in response to Bill Hunt)I understand and agree. I don't plan to use the Encore library much either. They are all very cute and convenient, however if I had wanted cute and convenient, I wouldn't have purchased PPCS4. I wanted the ability to create nearly anything, which I now have, as soon as I learn how. This article helped a great deal. http://www.adobe.com/ap/tips/encmenu/ I also found a few free menus online and I took them into Photoshop and studied them. It took some time, but I'm catching on. The book you mentioned should be here in a few days, and then I will have the following few days and then I should have all I need. Thank you.

Bill Hunt Aug 12, 2009 11:27 AM (in response to terry lee martin)Terry,
Good luck. With Jeff's book and a few example Menus in PS, you should get the hang of it in no time. Just pay special attention to the Button Layer's and Layer Set's naming conventions. Now, one can change the names to suit, AS LONG AS they follow the initial naming characters. This is very important and the key to the whole thing. After the little "(+)," and the like, you can name your Layers and Layer Sets to suit - just be sure to include those few characters, just as they are, in that renaming.
Jeff also talks of Button Overlap. This is a common problem that many encounter, when doing their own. A good test is to bring the Menu into Encore's Menu Editor Panel, and click on Show Button Routing. The full structure of each Button will be highlighted, along with the Routing. One can get the same info by hitting Ctrl-a (Select All), and looking at the Bounding Boxes displayed. There can be zero Overlap. Resize, or reposition, as is needed.
Also, pay close attention to Jeff's descriptions on Sub-picture Highlight Layers. There are limitations and parameters on these, that trip many up. There are several tutorials on the Web on Sub-picture Highlights, plus a few articles that I have written on ways to work within the limitations to achieve several visual effects. Others have contributed many more. I believe that all of mine were referenced to Adobe Encore, though they might appear on sites outside of the Adobe fora. Still, Jeff's book will give you the important data, and also some tips on doing more, than what most pre-made Menus offer.
Last, Jon Geddes, a contributor here, has several great comments/articles/tutorials, here and on his site, plus he has some neat Motion Menus for sale. Take a look.
Good luck,
Hunt
