Zeno Bokor Aug 11, 2009 12:30 AM (in response to derangedtaco)sorry, there's no way to make Bridge change the image data when rotating.

3. Re: My Rotated Images Do Not Save.
derangedtaco Aug 11, 2009 6:05 AM (in response to Zeno Bokor)Ugh... Well I guess all I have to do is make a photoshop action that rotates an image, and then apply that action to all of the desired files in bridge.
But how can I reset all of the view rotations I previously performed in bridge? Because at the moment, even if I did create this PS action, I wouldn't know which files to use them on.

4. Re: My Rotated Images Do Not Save.
Zeno Bokor Aug 11, 2009 7:09 AM (in response to derangedtaco)you will have to check them individually to see what is set in the Orientation field of the Metadata panel.

5. Re: My Rotated Images Do Not Save.
derangedtaco Aug 11, 2009 7:14 AM (in response to Zeno Bokor)My gawd. That would take ages. There has to be some faster way... What if I search for ".bridgesort" in explorer and delete the files that come up?

6. Re: My Rotated Images Do Not Save.
Zeno Bokor Aug 11, 2009 7:54 AM (in response to derangedtaco)that file only stores the sorting order of the files when they're viewed in Bridge. The metadata is embedded in the files themselves unless you're talking about raw files then it would be stored in a .xmp file (which you could delete to get rid of all the settings you've made to that file, including the rotation)

derangedtaco Aug 11, 2009 8:28 AM (in response to Zeno Bokor)Will deleting the .xmp file remove my camera raw modifications?

8. Re: My Rotated Images Do Not Save.
Zeno Bokor Aug 11, 2009 9:20 AM (in response to derangedtaco)yep, those .xmp files contain all the metadata modifications made to those files

9. Re: My Rotated Images Do Not Save.
derangedtaco Aug 13, 2009 7:05 PM (in response to Zeno Bokor)I came up with another (better?) idea.
What if I created a PS action that opens an image, makes some insignificant modification, and then save the image? If this action were run on all of the bridge-rotated images, then wouldn't the rotation be applied to the actual image data?
The only potential problem with this is that I would lose jpg quality because it wouldn't be lossless... But first things first. Would this work?

10. Re: My Rotated Images Do Not Save.
Curt Y Aug 13, 2009 7:35 PM (in response to derangedtaco)This is from Adobe: Although Bridge allows you to quickly and easily rotate images, the rotation doesn't really happen until you open the file up in a graphics application such as Adobe Photoshop® or Adobe Illustrator® and save it in it's rotated state. So if you rotated an image in Bridge and then dragged it into Adobe InDesign®, it would appear with its original orientation.
So with the above in mind seems like you can use the Image Processor in Bridge to open images in PhotoShop then save it. It should be then rotated. Since you are not adding anything the non-rotated images would remain unrotated so you don't have to know which ones were rotated and which ones were not.
Or am I out to lunch?

11. Re: My Rotated Images Do Not Save.
derangedtaco Aug 15, 2009 11:24 AM (in response to Curt Y)Yes, I think that would work, but doing so would recompress the .JPGs, which would result in slightly lower image quality. Ehh, I guess it's the only reasonable way... I'll give it a try and get back to you.
