Bill Gehrke Apr 18, 2009 5:01 PM (in response to StormeSixx)AVI is not native to the MAC OS. Google for an AVI Player for MAC.

StormeSixx Apr 19, 2009 12:20 PM (in response to Bill Gehrke)But I do have a player - QuickTime. Outside of Premiere Pro, I can play AVI. I've tried playing random AVI files from the Classroom DVD and other AVI I have. They play. There were a couple of AVI from the DVD that only played sound and no video. But in Premiere Pro, when I'm trying to load the files for the lesson (any of the AVI files,) that's when it tells me the codecs are missing or unavailable. I can't tell if it's Premiere Pro or the AVI files that's causing the problem. And that's what's driving me nuts. Anything else I can try?

Use the Movie Info menu (Ctrl+J?) in Quicktime to see what codec is used in the problem AVI file.
Cheers

Bill Hunt Apr 21, 2009 10:10 AM (in response to Ann Bens)Hm-m, the DV-Type II's *should* play fine in QT. At least they do with QT on my PC. Adobe is usually pretty good at getting their CiaB assets X-platform. Wonder what's going on here. I think that this is the third thread on CiaB assets not playing on a Mac. Odd indeed, and probably just a "mess up" on someone at Adobe Press.
Had similar with a Painter 3.0 book, years ago. The author had to send me 11 CD's before we found one that had the PC files on it. All the rest were Mac-only and she was really pissed at her publishing house. However, she hung in there, and we got it sorted out.

Curt Wrigley Aug 14, 2009 1:17 PM (in response to StormeSixx)Another MAC user had this problem and just solved it with Apple. Turned out there was an xvid codec pack installed on the mac that was smurfing up QT. Remove it and the avis all play fine.
