Bill Hunt Aug 15, 2009 3:18 PM (in response to Switch7)HDVSplit gets many good marks around here. Even without the issues that you had, many feel that it does a better job in several areas and use it. Same with Scenalyzer Live for SD Capture.
Good luck,
Hunt

4. Re: Xha1 24F footage Video plays fast but Audio is normal. PPro 2.0
Harm Millaard Aug 15, 2009 3:34 PM (in response to Switch7)Apart from the much better job done by freeware like HDVSplit or shareware like Scenalyzer, than has ever been delivered by Adobe for $$$, it is worth noting that all HDV cameras, like the H1, A1, G1, Z1 and all the other models available, have one thing in common. They all use a tape recording mechanism.
People often forget that this tape mechanism runs at a pre-defined speed, enabling 50Hz (PAL) or 60Hz (NTSC). Nothing else. Even if you set your camera to 24P or 24F or whatever other settings are available in the camera, the tape speed is not changed. The tape runs at the same speed regardless of your camera settings. Keep that in mind when capturing.

8. Re: Xha1 24F footage Video plays fast but Audio is normal. PPro 2.0
WillProd Nov 1, 2009 3:04 PM (in response to WillProd)Is there still floating somewhere the most recent update to the cineform plugin for ppro 1.5.1 out there? I know it's been discontinued but was wondering if the last update is available to download and see if that would fix the problem.

12. Re: Xha1 24F footage Video plays fast but Audio is normal. PPro 2.0
WillProd Nov 3, 2009 11:32 AM (in response to Switch7)I have found another solution. In my ppro 1.5.1 the audio and video were as described in by the forum title. The fix, sadly enough, is open the audio in Audition, and save it as a .wav file and tehn import it into premiere. the video you change the speed to 80% and it syncs up perfectly. I found the answer in another forum.

13. Re: Xha1 24F footage Video plays fast but Audio is normal. PPro 2.0
WillProd Nov 3, 2009 7:51 PM (in response to WillProd)what I have found is the footage is captured, no matter what frame rate is used, at 29.97fps. whether 60i or 24f, recorded at 29.97... any idea why or how to fix?

14. Re: Xha1 24F footage Video plays fast but Audio is normal. PPro 2.0
JSS1138 Nov 3, 2009 8:07 PM (in response to WillProd)The why is because the tape transport and the HDV specificatin only allow for 29.97 fps. The needed extra frames are added to 24p or f modes specifically to reach that frame rate.
The fix is to edit in a normal 30i sequence, which will retain the added frames. Or edit in a 24p sequence, which will remove the added frames. Make your exports match whichever sequence you edit in.

15. Re: Xha1 24F footage Video plays fast but Audio is normal. PPro 2.0
WillProd Nov 3, 2009 9:01 PM (in response to JSS1138)HDV projects in ppro 1.5.1 only have 25fps, 29.97, 50, 59.97

16. Re: Xha1 24F footage Video plays fast but Audio is normal. PPro 2.0
JSS1138 Nov 4, 2009 8:15 AM (in response to WillProd)Then you'll have to edit in 30i. (Means the same as 29.97 and 60i).
Or, upgrade to CS4.

17. Re: Xha1 24F footage Video plays fast but Audio is normal. PPro 2.0
WillProd Nov 4, 2009 10:50 PM (in response to JSS1138)would editing at 2 different frame rates mess things up? I got an xha1 and started off at 60i but quickly switched to 24f. would that make an inconsistency? Editing at 30i hasn't changed the audio and video synced.

18. Re: Xha1 24F footage Video plays fast but Audio is normal. PPro 2.0
JSS1138 Nov 4, 2009 10:54 PM (in response to WillProd)The inconsistency would be in the look. The 30i stuff would look like video, the 24f stuff would look more filmic. But they would edit the same.
