Unable to Authorize Computer

I am unable to "Authorize Computer" on a Virtual Machine workstation running Windows XP Professional SP3 using the product Adobe Digitial Edition - 1.7.1.1085.

Additional Software Installed:

Flash Plater 10.0.22.87

Please see attached screen shot for the error message or lack of one -- it only shows an exclaimation point.

Same (similar) problem: when I tried to install ADE (I installed and used old versions, time ago), but I can't authorize it, because I receive this answer:

E_AUTH_BAD_DEVICE_KEY . If I choose to NOT authorize the computer, the result is the same. Can I remove the software and try again with a "clean" situation? How? Thanks in advance
