JSS1138 Aug 21, 2009 12:29 PM (in response to Eric Addison)The Final Cut guys need their support group because deep down, they know they're just plain odd for choosing a Mac, and they need that emotional support to try and convince themselves they made the right choice.
As a PC user, you belong to the world at large, my friend. You are one of the normal members of society. No support group needed.

Eric Addison Aug 21, 2009 4:33 PM (in response to JSS1138)I totally agree with you, Jim - great post. But I still think it would be nice to hang out with editors who like to discuss PPro...the ones I hang out with locally for the most part all cut with FCP. And to listen to them, you'd think we are all wasting our time, not to mention using a vastly inferior NLE...

Bill Hunt Aug 21, 2009 8:11 PM (in response to Eric Addison)Eric,
I know my geography, but would a "zonie" count? Now, we do not get to SD, as often as our neighbors. It seems that our neighborhood is empty every Summer, as at least some of the family goes to the compound in LaJolla, or Del Mar. Still, we're in the SD area on business quite often, though we do not own any "compound" near-by. Hey, Phoenix is not THAT far away...

Eric Addison Aug 22, 2009 9:04 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)I'd be happy to have you...and I won't hold it against you that your a "zonie"!
I'll let you know when we get things up and running. If you have some spare time next time your in SD, let me know - maybe we can grab lunch.

Bill Hunt Aug 23, 2009 4:20 PM (in response to Eric Addison)Eric,
You have a deal. I'm usually over there, because my wife has a meeting, or we are wrangling donors. Often, I have several days on my own, and usually run up to Steele Canyon, or Aviara. Every now and then, I get to the South Course at Torrey. I'm always ready to hang with people, who are not in healthcare.
Good luck,

7. Re: Any PPro editors in or near San Diego?
Mitchell Lopez Sep 5, 2009 7:31 AM (in response to Eric Addison)Hey, I’m in San Diego. Sorry for being late to the party, but I have very little time these days to be on a computer, or even watch TV.
Most of my time is spent:
- Raising two little kids by myself.
- Dressing up at night like a bat, and fighting crime.
- Plotting how to reclaim our oil fields in Norway, and getting those people who have been squatting on our land for the past 10,000 years, off of it.
But if your user group involves happy hour at Gordon Biersch or Hodads, and mixing it up with super models, count me in.
But seriously (wait, I was serious on the user activities), I have very little time these days. However, I would like some contact as I have some ideas for production, but I am the only one I trust with camera work, sound, direction, etc. Some team work help would be nice.
But sadly, for the moment, I am stuck in my “little” world.

I'll be sure and keep you in the loop. If you can make, I'd be great to meet you and talk shop. But I totally understand where you're coming from.
If you, and anyone else, wants to sign up and be placed on the notice list, you can go to this link and sign up for the group:

Right now, I'm looking at having the first meeting in early October...but that day could change - I'm looking at a couple venues so that could force the change. Maybe we'll get Hodad's to cater...them or In-N-Out. As for the super models...I'll see what I can do.

Dag Norum Sep 6, 2009 3:59 AM (in response to Mitchell Lopez)- Plotting how to reclaim our oil fields in Norway, and getting those people who have been squatting on our land for the past 10,000 years, off of it.
Now, for everybody's information:
You see, Mitchell and I have actually met once, and I think he wants to put a decently big thorn in my side (or maybe directly in my heart). It was one night he was out fighting crime as he said, but the truth (and I swear to Odin about that) is that he was trying to prevent that a beautiful lady was stolen away from the USA, and that's no crime if you ask me, I would call it a rescue.
Anyway, he figured out that his bat-suite didn't even reach up to the heals of my Viking-suite, and if his suite had had a tail, well, you know where that had been when he ran away from the scene.
If I'm right (actually it's no if there, I'm ALWAYS right (at least when I'm in my Viking-suite)), Mitchell doesn't dare to meet me again, and therefor goes for our oil. I would say: Just try, you have no idea about how a longboat full of Vikings (that have eaten some funny red mushrooms with white spots) can fight off the whole American army, even with our right arm tied to the back.
And, if anybody didn't get scared now: FYI, my physics are 6' 3", 150lb. That did it I think, eh, know.

Bill Hunt Sep 9, 2009 6:41 PM (in response to Dag Norum)Dag,

In San Diego, it would be the US Navy and Marines, and not the US Army. Now, just up the coast, there is the "Top-Gun" school at Miramar. While I have great respect for the longboats, I'm not sure that they would hold up all that well. Now, if you are in your Viking suit, maybe things would be different... ?
OK, I am sounding more like an SD local, than a "zonie," but I've been there and seen the warpower up close and personal.
Still, you have the "spoils" of war, so you must be the "victor."

11. Re: Any PPro editors in or near San Diego?
Mitchell Lopez Sep 10, 2009 7:45 PM (in response to Eric Addison)Thanks Hunt. Thanks for giving everything away.
We had the bait set and the trap ready. We were expecting about three long boats coming up the San Diego River. (90-110 Vikings) With their shallow draft, they would probably make it as far as Qualcomm Stadium. I had a deal with the Chargers to lower the price of beer for these guys to seventy-five cents for the tall one. (You know the one you and I have to pay 8 bucks for).
The plan was to have the Navy SEALS blow up their boats while they were at the game, have ICE (Immigration Customs & Enforcement) apprehend them after they passed out, and then turn them over to the “other” agency that knows how to waterboard people.
The oil fields are now undefended, we send Maverick and Goose over in a F-14, we send in the ICE buses to round the people up. Bata bing, bata boom. - We annex the 51st state.

12. Re: Any PPro editors in or near San Diego?
Eric Addison Sep 10, 2009 8:49 PM (in response to Mitchell Lopez)Wow...who says PPro editors aren't creative?
Hunt and Mitchell - I hope you can both make it to a meeting...beers are on me afterwards - and not the .75 ones, the good ones!
By the way - anyone else notice the IBC announcements - Adobe Story on the Labs site, along with a plugin for CinemaDNG for PPro and AE...I think some big things may be coming our way.
Oh, and don't forget the boys over at North Island Naval Air Station - they can provide air cover for any attack.

13. Re: Any PPro editors in or near San Diego?
Eric Addison Oct 1, 2009 8:31 PM (in response to Eric Addison)Just to follow up about this - the first meeting is scheduled for October 29th at 7pm. Anyone who is interested in going or getting more information can go to the group site: http://groups.adobe.com/groups/370282e160/summary
Hope some of you can make it - please let me know if you plan to attend.
I'll post this over in the main PPro forum too since I know that forum gets more traffic.
