1. Re: Premiere 7 (Will not Start-up)
Kodebuster Aug 29, 2009 11:07 AM (in response to RndmPplPrsn)Wave_Warp.AEX typically indicates an issue with the Sound Driver and the need to update to the latest version.
If it's an HP box, chances are that it's using the Realtek Drivers.
Confirm and update...

Kodebuster Aug 29, 2009 11:17 AM (in response to RndmPplPrsn)If PE worked before, and then you made changes to your System, you can try and go back to an earlier Restore Point, via the Sysyem Restore option.
A general rule of thumb is to always Create a manual System Restore Point before any changes, then if you run into issues, you can roll back to a good point in time...

3. Re: Premiere 7 (Will not Start-up)
RndmPplPrsn Aug 29, 2009 12:42 PM (in response to Kodebuster)The driver update did not work, and I cannot do restores for they do not work on my PC, its a whole debacle. It will mess with my bios, which we had to customely edit because of a defect code from HP. Plus I am not sure how far to go back and I cannot do it now if I would lose any files. Thanks, but anything else. I also remember that it just doesn't initiate for soem reason.

4. Re: Premiere 7 (Will not Start-up)
Kodebuster Aug 29, 2009 1:46 PM (in response to RndmPplPrsn)You can try holding down the left side Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys as the program is launching to clear the preferences.
You may also want to list the Audio Driver and Version for your machine, others might confirm if they are running the same with no issues.
Regarding the Bios, the only way to change a setting is to enter and manually change, I'm not aware of doing it via the System/OS level or a Restore Point.
I'm also not aware of a System Restore affecting any data files, although it will rollback Software and Drivers that change the Registry.
Either way, if you can't get an existing Restore Point to work and rollback, then it doesn't really matter at this point in time...

RndmPplPrsn Aug 29, 2009 1:55 PM (in response to Kodebuster)The Cntrl-Alt-Shift did not work sadly.
I cannot go back far enough to where this problem didn't exist, I checked.

Bill Hunt Sep 1, 2009 9:15 PM (in response to RndmPplPrsn)This ARTICLE would be a good place to start. It sounds like you have a serious issue with your system. Much could be related to OS updates, but there might well be much more happening. I'd invoke a crash on launch, and immediately go to Event Viewer, following all errors and warnings, in hope to find exactly what is happening to cause PrE to not successfully launch.
Good luck,
Hunt

RndmPplPrsn Sep 2, 2009 3:31 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)I am well aware of Event Viewer from previous issues. I got a error 1000. If there is any other information you want me to post attach please ask and I will gladly do so.

9. Re: Premiere 7 (Will not Start-up)
Bill Hunt Sep 2, 2009 4:00 PM (in response to RndmPplPrsn)Was there a link to the "error 1000" message? Any useful info there? Were there any other warning, or error messages? Did any of them have any links? If so, what was the report from the MS KB?
It seems that error 1000 might have roots in a missing, or problematic ActiveX module, or also a server problem. Are you running on a network? Do you have the latest ActiveX update? Could be something in that.
Good luck,
Hunt

10. Re: Premiere 7 (Will not Start-up)
RndmPplPrsn Sep 2, 2009 4:28 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)By network, I am not sure what you mean. I am not working out of a company provided, or mass provided internet source.
I am not sure what to make of most of these, and I do think I have the latest ActiveX updates, however I will go check after this.
In the last picture, the sidebar is shown to illustrate how many, most likely useless, sources there are.

Bill Hunt Sep 2, 2009 4:55 PM (in response to RndmPplPrsn)Looking at one of the links indicates that msvcr80.dll is the faulting module. Here is an entry in the PrPro-Wiki, that might give you some useful tips.
Here is an Adobe KB Article, for CS3, that might offer some tips.
Hope something there helps.
As for networking, I was basically referring to using networked drives, or a server with either the program, or Assets stored on a server, or networked drive.
Good luck,
Hunt

13. Re: Premiere 7 (Will not Start-up)
Bill Hunt Sep 2, 2009 4:57 PM (in response to RndmPplPrsn)In the OP, you mention an "Internet problem." What was that? What browser are you using? The reason that I ask is that there were also some references to browsers in my search for msvcr80.dll issues, but I did not put those together, until I re-read your OP.
Good luck,
Hunt

RndmPplPrsn Sep 2, 2009 5:53 PM (in response to Bill Hunt)My problem before was a problem with my internet switch, so I bought a new one and there has been no errors now.
So don't worry about that, and thank you very much for the links and help.

If not, I'd guess that you have multiple issues, and without the complete details of what you have tried, I am out of ideas.
Good luck,

nealeh Sep 16, 2009 4:13 AM (in response to RndmPplPrsn)I note you have an nVidia card and your original post is 29th August. This is quite close to the release by nVidia of v190.62 of their graphics drivers. Did you update to this?
I ask because they broke my PrEl7 (albeit with very different symptoms). I reverted (originally to 185.85) to 182.08 and my PrEl7 problems disappeared. From the nVidia forums many are experiencing problems with the 190 and 185 drivers. Some users have even had to revert to the 170 series drivers.
Some of the problems being experienced relate to sound issues - http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=103307
Might be worth a try.
Cheers,

RndmPplPrsn Sep 20, 2009 9:36 AM (in response to nealeh)I am postive now that I have the latest sound and video card drivers. So that is not the issue. However I am having problems with the new nvidia driver. Except when I reverted I still had issues with the start-up. I might need to find the right driver to allow PE7 to startup, because I'm about to lose my patience.

19. Re: Premiere 7 (Will not Start-up)
videosmaster May 22, 2010 5:28 PM (in response to RndmPplPrsn)I had a similar problem and this is how i solved it:
1. Turn off real time protection from Microsoft Security
2. Unplug my webcam
3. Create more space for my c: drive
I did all things at the same time so I don't know which one did but now is working again.

Bill Hunt May 25, 2010 3:07 PM (in response to videosmaster)Thanks for posting those tips. All are things that one should look into, and all will be helpful, if not at resolving a particular problem, but are worth general application.
Appreciated,
Hunt
