1. Re: Can you dynamicaly link AE with Prem whilst retaining the layer structure???
Sébastien Périer Sep 5, 2009 10:23 AM (in response to luadke)You cannot keep Ae's layer structure in Pr.
Theorically, the only way to dynlink a Ppro project into an Ae project is to use the dynlink menu. If you just drag & drop your Ppro project or open it via File > Open or double clicking the project panel it won't be in dynamic mode.
But as Psd files, if you modify your Pr project in Pr, the Ae version will eventually be updated.

2. Re: Can you dynamicaly link AE with Prem whilst retaining the layer structure???
luadke Sep 5, 2009 10:29 AM (in response to Sébastien Périer)Ah - It was actually the other way around I was going for. As in - I want Premire clips or cuts to turn into layers when imported to AE
Because at the moment I'm just getting it as one layer - it does update in AE when I change something in Prem, but lets say I want to key frame an effect in AE and then after I decide to move that clip a little bit and I do so in Prem, if I do this my effect in AE will be out of sync with the clip.
Is that clear?
Thanks for the reply though

3. Re: Can you dynamicaly link AE with Prem whilst retaining the layer structure???
Sébastien Périer Sep 5, 2009 10:37 AM (in response to luadke)Okay. For that you have to use the dynamic link functionnality. You can go into premiere, select your sequence, right click and there is an option to send to an After Effects composition. Then the Pro sequence will be inside a composition with each clip/cut on it's own layer.
But know that the dynamic link option is only available if you bought Premiere and After Effects as part of the Production Premium or Master Collection Suite, and this specific dynlink option is only available in CS4.
Hope that helps.

5. Re: Can you dynamicaly link AE with Prem whilst retaining the layer structure???
Adolfo Rozenfeld Sep 5, 2009 11:47 AM (in response to luadke)If you want the clips in the Premiere Pro timeline to be available in the AE Composition, you have to use the Premiere Pro project import feature, not Dynamic Link.
Of course, it won't be dynamic. Changes you perform in Premiere after importing the project into AE won't be updated in AE. Bear in mind that most people do effects and compositing when the actual editing is done in the editing application.

7. Re: Can you dynamicaly link AE with Prem whilst retaining the layer structure???
Sébastien Périer Sep 6, 2009 4:19 AM (in response to luadke)You have to nest your sequence inside another sequence, and right click on it in the timeline.
